Power at the peak! if any MFer gets close, i'm clocking em. If you see a surfer carrying a tool belt, it's me with weapons stored - bear spray, indiana jones rope, nun-chux, and some twizzlers to chew bout it

I feel like we have really been lucky to surf this last week or so. Being in the water and riding waves really helps to drown out the craziness. That being said, I do not feel like this is a time to be out exploring new breaks, traveling in packs, and hanging out for post-surf beers, etc. Don't bring friends to a spot you just now had time to discover, especially if your Mom is driving you there. Do not overcrowd beaches, parking lots or waves- the more this happens up here in NE the likelier they are to restrict access. Once that happens, we are all going to without our favorite outlet. Stay healthy out there.

Well said. The beaches were packed here Saturday. Tuesday was crazy too. Only a few spots had favorable winds and the cars lined up had license plates from NY, MA, and of course, CT. Quite a few out of towners. Yesterday morning the Governor begged everyone from these states with summer homes to please stay away. It seems some want to avoid there own hotspots and hunker down here. Some of the locals, non surfers, are not liking the out of state plates cruising around. Once again, it wasn't one or two, there were a lot.

Bring your heaviest board and kick out every time, just to enforce social distancing. I joke.

Can't decide if I'll go out tomorrow morning up here (waves permitting). small, harmless waves but OTOH, maybe I'll just go dry for a few weeks.

Well, anyone driving around with NY plates are going to get pulled over by the staties, asked a bunch of questions and told to self quarantine. The beach parking lots are going to be closed to try and keep people away. I saw this coming. Yesterday was as busy as ever here. After I surfed yesterday, I worked for a while then went back to the spot to see if anything changed (it died), and although nobody was in the water, the parking lot was packed. The little parking area by my house for a DEM fishing spot was completely overflowed and had multiple cars parked illegaly on the road.
I don't blame people for wanting to get out for a walk ect… but I know a few around here that want people to go away. One of my really good friends here is an old salty fishing captain, in his mid 70's, with a ton of health issues. He told me he'd like to get out for fresh air too but all the people out worry him. Don't blame him.

All state beaches in NH closed until 5/4. Fortunately it was pumping yesterday before the closure, and I stuffed myself, but now... May have to get sneaky or travel a bit.

    reporting from south mission beach

the weather was beautiful here last week. And with everyone working from home, or laid off - it was a ducking zoo at the beach. I believe the city of San Diego shut everything down 10 days ago (I’m on day 14 of isolation. I feel fine, just being a little extra cautious), which I hate to agree with these morons (hey Barry), but probably the best move.

my business supports casinos so I’m not really doing much at the moment. Waves have been small so not like we’re missing wave time.

hope y’all are making the most of the situation.

opened our beach up Friday night, had a good sized crowd (not overcrowded i'd say) on saturday with protesters on the bridge in, closed 5pm Saturday evening. it was a matter of govn'r vs town measures, sht like dat. I'm keeping an eye on space coast this upcoming wknd. still looking good for the bday ride this week. hardly beats living on da beach

Up here in North County the beaches are closed, but I still see peeps in the water on the cams. The waves haven't been great and we got a puppy last Thursday, so I can't be arsed to see if I can get in the water. Maybe Thursday or Friday if the swell shows up.

BTW, if Friday/Saturday's forecast holds up, RI will need to actively close all the major parking lots. 3-5' and green, 50+ air temps - going to be a zoo.

The governor is shutting down beaches and parking lots this weekend. She is also not allowing parking along the street on Ocean Drive. I saw the National Guard shutting down a parking lot yesterday.
There are still quite a few out of town plates still cruising around. They must be either summer home owners who made the great escape or possible leftover students from URI who haven't left, but born and bred locals are noticing, taking pics of license plates, and posting them angrily on social media. Sh!t is crazy...
It is definitely not the time to drive to score, or even to go for a walk. The crowds last week on any given nice day was crazy. It's one thing if everyone just got in their car, drove directly to the beach, walked using social distancing guidelines, went back in their car and went home, but they go to the Cumberland Farms, the Dollar Store, the Stop and Shop, ect.. touch surfaces, gas pump handles ect… then the local population that is old or sick has to worry about who they know touched or frequented said places.
Anyways, stay home. Do not come here, even if we get the goods. I know they are talking about closing the cape cod bridges in neighboring Mass., I don't blame them.
Stay safe swellies…. hopefully we can use our god given American rights and cross borders and invade each other's breaks soon enough

makes sense. Last time I went down there, I didn't stop anywhere until I got to the lot, etc... but people can't be trusted to do the right thing and here we are.

Guess I'll have to hit Elbow Ledge, no parking lot for that. Oh wait.

Who's still surfing on the reg? We're all shut down up here in NH/ME. Big swells all next week to boot.

I suspect the beach closures to end just in time for summer flatness, yay.

I don't think the MA beaches are closed by state order yet, just by towns. Hull had people out last weekend.

Hull is like Hampton I think, where the seawall, parking and narrow sidewalk situation make it particular a bad choice for getting outside at high tide, even if you don't surf.

Carlsbad City beaches are closed, but State beaches in Carlsbad are open, but the parking lots are closed. There is decent swell on the way tomorrow. I'm going to drive down and see if I can get in the water somewhere, either North Ponto or Campgrounds probably.

FB loves to close down public access at the drop of a hat. I personally will never spend a penny there again.

Why is it you can't just walk to the ocean and surf. Says beaches closed not the ocean

The age old answer... because surfers have always been misunderstood.
