I would like to be nice about this. This circus needs to stop. tomorrow looks like a great paddle day. We deal with tourists lifeguards fisherman all year long and when winter comes we have douchebag step offers ripping up our spot. Please stay away from all paddle surfers like far away maybe 90th street. Step offers make us Maryland surfers laughed at by the surfing world.

    Yea seriously- no 'hello' thread?

We have those guys all the time over here in BELMAR nj(best waves on the east coast). But they only show up when it's bigger then 23ft...

if you had a ski, you would be a step offer.

careful, some of the best surfers I've ever seen in MD lurk on this site...

    and they step off.

By the way, the step offers i've seen almost always stay away from the paddle surfers...

Using a ski to get you into the wave instead of paddling.

Couple swells ago, saw them on the cam. It was almost like they were doing just so people could see them. And the swell was not that big

Agreed Doobuns. See my last post. Hawk-that is exactly why they DON'T need a ski...... Next it will be step offs using a fkn paddleboard wearing a clown suit.... Just another degree of separation from you and the ocean.

motorized watercraft are supposed to stay 600 ft from shores and piers at public beach accesses. You can just call the coast guard if you really feel strongly about it.

you're right, there shouldn't be step offers in 6 ft swell unless they are on their own private beach or far away from paddlers..

Mostly I see em at least 5 street away from paddlers... rarely see them interfere with paddlers.

well they definitely aren't kooks, unless u consider the same brands that sponsor jjf and once sponsored andy irons kook brands.however it is pretty retarded, but I can understand why they do it.real simple, more waves in more time, but they should be on a desolute beach far from regular folks.save the skis for the hurricanes.everytime I see one of these new videos pop up and the image looks great and u see someone step off I simply x out.

im sure this is pretty rare,i know jersey had a foreverlong beef with the vb/md boys, but I think they are some of the best surfers on the eastcoast.I watched a video of colin herily the other day labled "lost files" or some shyt and he was doing the knee sponging thing, which im not a sponger and could care less but he kills it whether its a sponge, drop kneeing, surfing, longboarding.I never realized how long these dudes were surfing for,and I met raven one day and he was the coolest mellow-ist person I ever met.much cooler than these people that live around me.I support these vb/md boys but do not support the ski

It got a little carried away a few years ago, but they are only using it for the current. People do this crap all over the world in sweeping beachbreaks and points. Said day a few weeks ago was essentially unsurfable because of the current. So they used a ski to get a few before it cleaned up and dropped half the size 2 hours later. There were probably 4 guys tops that actually paddled out, got maybe 1 or 2 waves and came in.

Plus, rednecks from the penninsula love 3 things, Killing things, drinking things, and gasoline power. So we'll drag anything with a motor onto the beach and into the water we can just out of spite. **** the dolphins, drill baby, drill. Bonus points if your poundin a bud heavy while flipping the winch switch and god knows we love the chum trail from a collision with a rockfish.

As far as I saw they were basically out there by themselves for the better part of the day. When the swell started to drop in the afternoon the paddle guys finally started to show up and the ski's moved down far enough to stay out the way. To each their own, they were getting barrel after barrel while I probably got a handful of good ones while fighting the current. The guy who posted this is big time hating yet he was probably to scared to even paddle out.

I shot a few from the beach your talking about that day a couple swells ago. idk, there were a few guys paddling and a couple guys stepping off. Regardless of how you feel about it, the guys stepping off were making the waves, the guys paddling weren't. Its really not about size, its about getting in early enough to make the section.
