Two spots that should be SUP-friendly are Lunada Bay and Compton Beach. Trust m, I've been to both with my board and was greeted with shakas and plenty of waves.

Know a bit about Lunada. Used to live in Palos Verdes.
Didn't surf then. Diving was my thing. Good area for it.

Nobody likes me everybody hates me all I wanna do is eat worms. Long ones short ones oh how the big ones squirm. First you bite the heads then ya suck the juice out then ya throw the skins away. Put em in a tin can put em on the back porch save em for a rainy day.

Let me see if I got this right,
You bite off the heads, and suck out the juice,
    And throw the skins away?
So nobody knows or ever finds out
how fat you grow on worms three times a day?

LA has the best SUP. Checkout Skidrow, and Skywalker Ranch. Always fun trying to Standup after you stop over to Bill Cosbys. Fly Spirit with your boards. Sooooo cheap. Just make sure you paddle right into the peak and wear a button up tee with a bucket hat

Just go. Get a car and drive around, plenty of places to go and to surf.

If your looking for 'real' waves- you should change your vacation plans and head east to Belmar, NJ. Very SUP friendly and all the pros surf there!
