Haven't missed a Pats home opener in several years. I'm talking about attending them, not just on TV at home. However, I'm not even going to watch it tonight because I can't sit and watch an NFL game, albeit favorite team, when I've got 6-10ft and clean at the Trestles breaks. Can't wait to get thrashed and rag-dolled by Pacific waves for the second time in a month. Driving to the airport this AM, the Boston sports radio guys were laughing at the fact that the "national experts" were saying the Jets had every categorical advantage tonight. Even passing. That's about as sensical as 7mm fullsuits in piss-warm September waters.
Brah, 3.5ft at 17 seconds there? Yeah, they're saying 6-10ft during the afternoon hours. This is not EMass scale. It's what the west coast site (Solspot) is saying. Look at top right corner at this link, says that height for 6pm. http://solspot.com/trestles-surf-forecast Back to NFL talk!!! I booked trip to Phoenix late October to see my Dirty Birds beat up on the Cards. Matty Ice and Jackson will be eating up the league by then.
I wonder how accurate they are compared to Surfline who is forecasting 3-5ft at it's peak today and 4-5 Occasionally 6ft tomorrow? http://www.surfline.com/surf-forecasts/southern-california/south-orange-county_2950/
Man, I can't believe Week 2 is already here. I've got a bold claim for tonight's game.... The Jets' defense looked pretty decent against Tampa Bay last week. That being said, I say the Jets D shows up for the second straight week to control Tom Brady and the depleted NE offense. Geno definitely has a long way to go, but as long as the Patriot's aren't scoring, the Jets should be able to keep up. Drink some coffee, because it's going to be a 4th quarter rivalry showdown in Foxboro tonight. 21-17 New York.
You might be right, it's not looking good for the Pats right now, but then again it's the Jets we're talking about, could be a painfully bad game, but hoping for a nice surprise.
Sounds about right, was watching it on the cams earlier today and they were getting 3-4ft, sometimes 5ft I think. Swell period on SL is 14-15 seconds though, so I guess it all depends on where you get your information from. Is there a more reliable site other than SI and SL for the West Coast?
This leprechaun? Hey Gaff, when are they going to get some viable targets for Philip Rivers? Norv isn't around anymore to take the blame. It's time to step it up, Chargers!
Peyton had a redonk game with those 7TD's. He's well in his prime like Brady Manning is gonna love having Welker there. It's a formidable receiving corps. P-Men pull out another win last night undermanned. Strip them down to the third string everywhere on the depth chart and you'll still see a good game. Can't say the 4TO wasn't the difference though. Brady has no targets, little protection, and no running game to boot with Vereen out. These AFC East battles are never pretty.
The highlight of last night, other than surfing... Seeing the frustration on tommy boy's face 'cause none of his receiver's could hold onto the ball...priceless. Too bad they still won! Hate, hate, hate the Patriots!
Pats are 3-0 with the 197th receiver on the depth chart. The US Gov't doesn't need a DoD. They can just use the NE defense. The AFC East is thick with competition this year. My Falcons are ailing though. Matty Ice needs to step up his game to what it always has been. Sick NFL season. Who knows what is gonna happen! You can count on Wes catching a TD every week though.
Sick season brahs. Manning en fuego via Wes, et al. Hawks 4-0, Giants and Steelers 0-4. Niners bounce back. Pats go 4-0 and lose Wilfork. Really, this team loses more key starters and Pro Bowl vets each week yet keeps winning. Accept it. Falcons 3 losses with 3 chances to win it or tie it at the end. Matty has been there before, he's got to convert in the red zone. Didn't know who I wanted to win with my two favorite teams playing. Just felt weird! Forget NCAA football. Too many teams and too much going on. NFL rules.
Either guys are pissed the Patriots are this damn resilient or you all stopped liking football. This was once a good thread at least. Lots of thoughtful discourse.
Emass, the Pats are definitely overachieving for the circumstances that they are in. But with Bill and Tom you always have a chance, even with no-name receivers, which it won't be long and they'll all have names. The mark of a leader is the ability to make others around you better, which it's obvious he (Brady) has done and will continue to do. I'm not a Pats fan, but I can respect what they've done thus far. 4-0 the hard way, not a bad position to be in.
I honestly did not expect the Broncos to start off 5-0. I seriously thought my birds would knock you off in Week 1and I had Romo rolling this past weekend. I wouldn't start banking on a perfect season yet! You essentially have a bye this weekend (Jax) before your schedule really starts to pick up with Luck's Colts, the high scoring Chargers twice, Chief's D twice, Tom Brady and the roller-coaster-like Texans. You have a tough road ahead, but at least you're off to a great start. Some good football so far. I'm stoked that teams like Miami and the Browns are starting to wake up and play professional football for once. Somewhere on this forum, I have documentation that the Dolphins will be AFC East Champions. Let this serve as a second reminder. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that the Browns will be a Wild Card this year.
