Oh the Pats, beneficiaries of the worst division in the history of the game going on 15 years now. Of course they will make the playoffs, win a game maybe and lose to someone from the west…..yawn. My birds are flying high now… 0 Points G-Men fans….can you count that high? HAHA.
Peyton Manning is kinda good. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11731334/peyton-manning-denver-broncos-breaks-brett-favre-all-touchdown-pass-record
Ho brah LittleRicky good move on reviving one of the best SI treads going. We don't discuss enough man things like football on here. Pats have taken what could likely be the NFL's toughest schedule and laid waste to its best teams. Forget about the AFC, they've tagged each division leader badly (Cincy 43-17, Den 43-21, Indy 42-20). See a pattern of consistent dominance there? I do. It's continued with NFC contenders yesterday with a 34-9 drubbing of a good Detroit team that is admittedly struggling as of late. Brady beat the Lions by the exact same score exactly 14 years after his pro debut. How's that for sunilarity?? How do you not respect a team that benches a man for showing up late to a practice the following game in which he rushes for 201 yards and 4 touchdowns? This franchise is so multi-faceted and built on strengths of sound team culture in an age where pro athletes are criminals and squawk to media about their coaches and teammates. Good things happen to good people. This is a Super Bowl year. We lost early, a few actually, so the lunch pail was the focus rather than hype. Look at their last 3 games: all 3+ touchdown wins over teams that are a combined 22-8 outside their losses to the Pats. Yes, the games still have to be played and there's no guarantees. If you're a betting man, you know where to put your money right now. As for Sunday, yeah, it could be a great game. It could also be the fourth consecutive week we more than double up an NFL division leader...
The Pats are never a worry. However, my Dirty Birds... Losing to the Browns?!?? Yes, Cleveland can play this year. The AFC North is pro footfall's most competitive division. That said, Atlanta had that game in the bag. Still like Matty Ice, but he's not converted with the game on the line more than once this year. He got his name from staying cool as ice when the temp of the situation rises. Alas, if Nawlins loses to the Ravens tonight (probable) then the Falcons will still be a division leader at 4-7. The NFL is awesome this year. We will see multiple 11-5 teams not make playoffs yet a 6-10 team will! NCAA is having a banner year and teams like Miss and Miss St have come out of the woodwork. I still can't get into it, even when Boston College nearly knocks off the #1 Noles on Saturday. NFL rules all!!!
I will be pulling for the Pats this weekend, keep GB in check for playoff scenarios. My birds are winning against the bad teams and losing to the better teams, but in Chips 2nd year in the NFL I am very impressed with how this team progresses with an awful defense and so so QBs. I think Chip and Belicheck are very similar….super bowl matchup maybe?
Could be bro. Rematch of '05. You have a good point. Not sure I'd be real excited about that Super Bowl though. The NFC looks so up in the air! The playoffs should be excellent.
Can someone explain why Cowboy fans celebrate every single regular season win like they just won the superbowl? i hate the cowboys.
Doesn't look like the Lions won the battle in the trenches. 2 sacks for Pats D, 0 for Lions. Stafford was held to a dismal 39.1% and well under his 300yd/game average this year. The Lions did not get any traction to their ground game from scrimmage on conventional run plays, whereas Blount ran free and consistently. No special teams or defensive scoring, so a 34-9 margin and a strong advantage in yardage indicates who won the battle at the line. As for GB, look beyond this week's game to define their season. They've beat a bunch of down and out bum teams and have mostly not fared well against the better ones, losing to Seattle and Detroit very decisively both times. They do have that recent blowout over the Eagles in their pocket. Their playoff dominance this year is questionable at this point as a result. Let's say NE doesn't take this week's game vs. GB. It still wouldn't knock them from the top too much as no other team in the league has played the schedule they have and laid waste to such good teams. No one is beating the Pats at home currently and it's likely they have a fair amount of home field in the postseason. Finding themselves on the road against teams of GB's caliber isn't likely to happen until the AFC Championship if at all. Good chatter buoys! Keep it up.
Because it's been two decades since they've had a notable playoff run. If they didn't celebrate small victories they'd not be celebrating at all. They are still an "also ran".
I had a dream a few weeks back, one of those very real feeling dreams (which I never have). I dreamed the Eagles got smoked by the Packers in their first meeting but then met up again in the NFC championship in Philly. After a game for the ages, the birds advanced to the Bowl…its hard to beat a team twice in one year.
I had a big bet on the Packers in that Eagles game. The Eagles pass D is horrendous so I never thought it would be close. I can't wait to watch that Packers Patriots game though. I think the Packers will win in a tight one. Rodgers is just better than Brady, it's at Lambeau and besides the cornerbacks the Pats D is just average at best.....not that the Packers D is something special but I like Dom Capers and they've been playing better as of late. I don't like Mike McCarthy though so that edge definitely goes to the Patriots. Stoked for Sunday!!
Rodgers better than Brady...LOLZ! Through 107 regular season games, which is what Rodgers has played, Brady has 11 more wins (82 vs. 71) and two more Super Bowl victories (3 vs. 1). http://m.jsonline.com/sports/packers/119635674.html No, Brady hasn't won it since then. However, he's advanced to two more SBs and put up some obscene stats, much like what you may claim as an argument the Rodgers is doing now. On longevity alone, Brady will go down as the best ever. He's got 4-7 great years left. Anyone want to revisit the Brady vs. Manning debate? I statistically laid that one to rest a year ago on dis tread. I ain't bragging guys, you just bring up preposterous statements fit for being refuted. Pats D average at best? Bro, look at the stat lines of this year's games, then look at points yielded then look at the caliber of competition. That's without Mayo for a while now. Stick to commenting on surf-related things as that's pure comedy. Pats have only put 4 of the leagues best QBs to rest in the last month. Rodgers is next. I suppose NE's d-line has had nothing to do with their 9-2 record.
I'm assuming you're a Pats fan and if so I'm assuming you've seem Brady's playoff performances over the past 3 years or so. He's looked like hot garbage at best. I'd go as far as to say he WAS the reason they haven't advanced forward in the playoffs. Brady is an all time great QB but right now if you think he's better than Rodgers your high. The Pats D is average at best because they've lost half their team. They have a grand total of 7 sacks and 2 ints over the last 4 games against teams that throw every single time and while being up by a couple TDs....not good. Zero pass rush. Know why I can talk good about surfing too, it's because I fund a couple surf trips a year plus 2 or 3 boards off my football/sports winnings EVERY year. You're definitely talking to the wrong person jack@ss!
He's had some off games in those playoff years, though it's not possible to say that any one of those years was he bad in the entire playoff run. In 2011-12 season, he may have played poorly in the AFC Championship that they still won, but he had 6TDs and a 137.6 rating in a 45-10 drubbing over Denver. His Super Bowl performance was decent but by no means average or poor (27-45, 276, 2TD/1INT). The following year, he singlehandedly smoked the Texans to advance to the AFC title game (24-40, 344, 3/0). He did not play well vs. Baltimore in that next game. Last season, he wasn't really even needed in the 43-22 win over Indy because Blount came out of the booth with a million rushing yards. Brady only threw the ball 25 times in that game and picked up some big 1st downs. Then, he actually played fairly well against Denver with 24-38, 277, 1/0 for a rating of 93.9. They did not advance in that game for several other reasons than Brady coming up short. You say he was responsible for them not advancing forward in the playoff the last 3 years. Dammit, Tom. You ONLY brought us to 3 conference championship games and 1 Super Bowl in those 3 years. Damn you, Brady. Bro. You and the rest of the league's fans salivate at the thought of such a run as we've had in the last 3 years. Now you're just making schitt up son. More to the reason why Brady is king and this whole franchise is the best ever in pro sports. No other team has repeatedly overcome adversity like they have. Then again, is it possible to win 7 games in a row, holding 4 of the NFL's best passing teams at bay if your defensive scabs are average? Hmm. Great bro, you're a serial gambler. Proud of you. Excellent contribution to society. Let's start calling people names because we don't like their football opinions lol! You're a life kook bro.
Bro. I posted the link, obviously I read it. Evidence of that is when I state that Brady has put up those Rodgers numbers since his initial time period quoted on that link. As a matter of fact, if you take away the opening game in 2008 where Brady went down for the year halfway into that game, he has played exactly 107 games (the total that site measured QBs on with Rodgers) over 6.7 seasons. Over that span, he has 238TD and 62INT, nearly identical to that 236/56 total for Rodgers in his first 107 games. So yeah bro, Brady can put up those same kinds of numbers. Let's see Rodgers play for twice as long as he already has, stay consistent the whole time, stay healthy (Brady has only ever missed the games in '08), advance to 5 SB's and win 3 of them. Let's see him do all of that when he loses half his team to injuries on a regular basis and largely throws to receivers that are not superstars, or even established league standouts for the most part. Brady puts up big stats many years, but he is so much more than stats. The dude manages his team with amazing leadership and he flat out wins ball games on the reg. You cats are saying that his defense is subpar this year...yet he's 9-2 and blown out 4 division leading teams in the last month. So that would make Brady's performance the driving force behind their league dominance. Saying their defense sucks or is average is reinforcing Brady's value because right now the Pats are the cats azz. How is Rodgers against the other superstar QBs head to head? I don't know those stats off hand but will guarantee you he's not close to 11-5 vs. Manning. How about this...we wait until Rodgers has played 26 career playoff games and see if he's won more than 18 of them. We can also wait until he's won 11 division titles. Those of you who are quantifying these players on stats alone must have never played organized team sports. Success and player value is so much more than their stats. However, their team's record, especially in big games, is a statistic that definitely correlates to their value. Winningest QB in playoff history (total wins). Winningest QB in regular season history (percentage; 157-45, .777). Talk to me when we are discussing full careers, not a handful of great years. Rodgers will be washed up or injured by the time he is Brady's age. Brady will be doing this another 4-7 years and go out on top with 2 more rings.
Yes bro a good game for sure! Should get pretty high ratings and it's just what the league wanted. Enjoy the game and have a good Thanksgiving. We can all break it down on Monday.
