the only thing that would get me out of my current ride would be to find the same thing w/ a deisel engine. unfortunately, to my knowledge it was never sold in the US, only canada & europe. more than a little bitter about that.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Emissions are measured in g/ml. Mass per volume. That means you can burn less fuel, but still fail because every ml of exhaust has too many grams of pollutants. That is why they also have CAFE standards for fuel economy.
If you (or anyone) had a friend who was solely motivated by money and did anything to get it, they would be labeled a psychopath and you would likely not be friends with them and good catch finding that paid shill chich, but play nice with brew, he's not a paid shill, even if he disagrees with you, the way nynj posts, I am still on the fence......he might just be brainwashed up sheet crick
You'll love it dude, awesome read. His collections of short essays are great too, imo where he shines brightest.
oil rig reality curious - does anybody know…..can an oil rig take a direct hit from a hurricane and still be there the next day?? i mean, this must have happened in the gulf...
mass production is a relative term. Nissan cant sell any leafs, Honda barely sells CRZ and Hyundai isnt a giant automaker. At most there will be a couple hundred thousand on the road, that pales in comparison to all the other cars being mfg'd like it or not - small displacement, high-boost turbocharged gasoline engines are where the automakers are going. Combined with hybrid motors for "torque fill" and electrified turbos. Diesel powered vehicles cost on average 8k-9k more than an equivalent gasoline - due to the urea injection, EGR coolers and other crap in the exhaust. Plus it costs more to fill the tank and you have to add fluid. Like it or not, diesel is not likely to become mainstream in the US. PS if you ever needed a turbo for anything from a race car to a boat to a tractor combine, i could probably help (day job)
You will start to see more diesels popping up here and there. The new Nissan Titan is one to look out for. Cummins V8 with piezoelectric injectors. It will be a beast. Also, you will see a few new Ford vehicles with diesel. The spark ignition world is all moving towards advanced direct injection fuel systems. While they aren't as expensive as Diesel engine equipment, it is more pricey than PFI. You will start to see less of a gap in pricing between SI and CI vehicles. Diesels are really worth it if you drive a lot. Great fuel economy and the engines generally hold up longer. Just wait until compression ignition gasoline starts showing up.
All this time I thought you worked at Sam Adams and spent your days swimming in vats of beer. Go figure, your a gear head! I used to have a Roadrunner that could lift one wheel off the pavement with street slicks. I started with a 318 but the monster came alive once I dropped the 440 in it. That thing was scary, and fun. I wish I could afford gas on a car like that now. 7-10 mpg
Cars were my first love. I have own some fun toys over the years. 82 Mazda RX7, 93 Dodge Stealth TT, 08 Mustang GT, just to name a few. My WRX STI was suppose to be a compromise between practical useable space and all out sports car. I still think it has too many doors.
Everyone stop driving, flying, and boating. Then we can stop with the oil. I say go get the oil from our resources and use it for ourselves. Stop paying off our enemies that our sworn to kill us. It always gets me how it is fine to take a risk on some other countries land but not our own. Drill baby drill until there is a better option. Not green energy scams paid for by liberal government power with money stolen from working tax payers.
closing the bonner bridge though the reasons seemed logical to me, can't help but wonder if 'oil' fit into the equation….
I'm stoked on this. Must have ESP or something because a few weeks ago I shifted a lot of money into oil stocks. So this, coupled with the Russian news should allow me to pay for my kids college AND maybe get the slick new german sport model I've been thinking about. There is no substitute
Luckily there's people not so complacent. Here's a guy showing outrage. He's an angry bigazz mofo too.
