I know that offshore winds make the water cold, but does anyone know why? I've been trying to find out but I can't find anywhere that says it and I'm really curious as to why it does that.
it pushes the warm surface water out to sea & allows the cooler water to come up from deeper water. it's called "upwelling".
maybe because the wind is pushing all the sun-heated surface water out, so then cold tidal water moves up? Thats my guess damnit njsurfer just posted this....
Please look at my explanation in this thread: http://www.swellinfo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=911&highlight=eckman+transport
