Wow blast from the past...
Hell yes, i am a huge pumpkins fan!!!!
how drunk are you?
i was lit up yesterday
that band SSSUUUCCCKKKKKKSSS!!
'91 was a good year for music. Maybe even a great year. That was the year I moved to Ann Arbor, MI. Pixies, Temple of the Dog, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Dinosaur Jr.... ton's of indie stuff. Yea... I'd say it was a great year.
LB everything you said is true, but SP still sux
I enjoy their early albums, but despise Billy Corgan.
I will admit, he does have a whiny voice when he is singing, but I do love their music. And he is a bad mofo on a guitar!
Indeed, he has a lot of talent. He sings and plays the core lead guitar parts flawlessly. I like him as a musician, but as a person he is bat sh1t crazy.
aahhh...1991. The year I graduated HS. You guys are getting all nostalgic today with these old school memories. SP is/was OK (definitely enjoyed them instrumentally more so than the dramatic lyrics). Nirvana phenom was cool to watch unfold...until the ending (something about being a teenager and the smell of teen spirit back then). Pear Jam got old quick. There always seemed to be some good shows to check out though. Early Lollapaloozas were cool.
temple of the dog was the greatest callobo ever, eddie vedder and chris cornell.wish they made more than 2 good songs.yea smashing pumpkins always sucked.alice in chains, stp are like the 2 greatest bands of the 90s
iv always been a fan of nirvana, since I grew up during that era.still got the rolling stone front page framed from kurts "suicide."one band I fuccking hate is foo fighters.dave grohl was never shyt, dude was the drummer, and now his music completely sucks and they play it way too much on the radio.and was very disappointed dave didn't participate in that nirvana documentary about kurt getting high and courtneys unflattering titties
Good call, Senor 'Tard.
Always kinda liked the Pumpkins but had never seen them live - until this summer (on tour with Marilyn Manson). I'd always been given the impression that they sucked live but gosh-dammit they rocked!
Corgan wasn't the tw^t that I'd imagined and a good time (and a lots of beers) was had by all. So there, naysayers.
On the subject of early 90's - Alice in Chains. That was some band. I was in Amsterdam in early 1993 and was walking past a place called Paradiso (an old church that had been converted into a 'concert hall') one Sunday afternoon when I heard some familiar riffs. They were doing a sound check and it was freakin' mindblowing. Never got tickets for the actual show but those guys could rock...that dude (Layne Staley) was apparently 86lbs when they found his drugged up carcass...don't do crack, kids...
Man, I *lived* this schitt back in '91. You couldn't escape it in this state, it was *everywhere*. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Melvins, Mudhoney, Stone Temple Pilots...it was a crazy time and a good time for music.
Now, I drive by Kurt Cobain's original house every single day..."The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah".
