That's f'ing hilarious. You had street cred after that... Last time I got in a pit was years ago at Korn show (Family Values tour). Pit was circling. My wife was worried. I was hesitant. A friend gave me a push and off I went. I barely got touched. My wife was laughing when I came out, said everyone ran away from the crazy old guy. Kids these days...
It was still the same in '04...port Angeles was ok...for a night. The ferry over the islands is pretty cool, but the state would be nothing without Seattle (like much of the pnw). Also made the brief drive through the goondocks...yuck
Did Ian get mad and stop the show to lecture the crowd? Saw Fugazi a few times. When I was in Seattle he threatened to throw my bass player out. Last time I saw them I walked out after the third time Ian stopped the show to lecture the crowd about the evils of moshing. Minor Threat...
Sorry to hear that man. Pretty depressing as well to get up on Rainier and see all the clear cuts right up to the edge of the park. Weyerhauser would leave enough trees so you couldn't see any of it from the road, but once you got a vantage point...the cuts went for miles and miles. That old growth forest is gone forever.
1000 years it will be back I dont think we will be around in a 100 years at the present course of consumption but I digress public enemy anyone?
MIS...not sure how long you been in the islands. You go to the Big Mele? I don't think they have anymore (on the East side....Wailuku Ranch I think)/ Pretty epic shows in the 90s. side of the mountain overlooking the Chinaman's hat with the stage at bottom of hill. I went three years. One year Suicidal, NOFX, and like 5 other killer bands. Probably some of the best live stuff I have seen. Outdoor pits are the sh
We got Showtime for free one weekend and I snagged and dvr'd this. It was good. http://www.sho.com/sho/reality-docs/titles/3421638/public-enemy-live-from-metropolis-studios
Every Sunday night live reggae at Myshkins back in the 90s. Yellow Man, The Whalers, Burning Spear, Ziggy Marley ect. Everyone getting irie in the club with no hassles. Used to be a band called Dumptruck out of Boston that had kinda of a trippy surfy guitar sound that I liked to catch live. Lots of alternative college rock bands, some good some not, used to play here. Now it's mostly tame a** cover bands, jam bands and Jack Johnson wanna bees. Heard Agent Orange is coming sometime soon. Hope to see that one.
no I havent been to big melee, sounds fun though, came here right after Sandy flooded our sheets. literally I Havnt been to many good shows here, just some local stuff, Nahko Bear, I saw the Orb spin in HNL and Moby at T-bay for Wanderlust (should be called yoga pants fest) always looking, cant ever find a good show here almost went to see Bone thugs and harmony 2 weeks ago
Yeah, man. Once cross the Astoria bridge up the coast it was nothin but dank fog. Then it cleared and turned into a blue-grey gloom and we descended into the Aberdeen valley were it was one floor square houses and paper mills. As a kid who grew up in the east most reaches of the mid-west during the nirvana stranglehold (that I let willingly choke the life outta me) I did my best to have no expectations or pre-conceived notions of Kurt's hometown, but still, it felt like I entered a crack induced heroin overdose as I drove in to that town. I spent maybe 20 min, with a stop at the local McDs to take a piss and then got outta there. Driving out towards Olympic felt soul cleansing. Besides that park and, the peninsula, and Seattle to walls walla, I didn't venture in deep enough to see the clear cutting in WA. But we did venture up to Idaho and Montana's north west most regions on our way to Glacier. And there, feeling on top of the world, and realizing why it's called, "big sky", I also realized the destruction of our presence looking at 8,000 vertical feet miles wide of clear cutting. Saw de-la-soul in '97...beasties '98 but that's as rap show heavy as I got MIS. But in my older, wiser, years, yeah PE, I got nothin against PE.
How about the Garage Mis...that place still around? Saw Pennywise and Offspring (same night) there with some Funguy...Was actually a really good show. Saw Rage there too. Good venue. Worst show I saw was the cherry poppin daddys ....but it sure was a fun night
I go into some potions back then. I almost single-handedly destroyed a large section of Atlantic City. It wasn't the boardwalk or Casinos so no one really cared. Except the cops I assaulted. In prison I had to align myself with some really nasty people whose group 'managed' the white portion of the population inside. But at least it kept my virginity intact if you know what I mean.
