In case you missed it, the New York Times ran an article about the possibility of the oil spill effecting NY beaches. Here it is. Included in the article is a computer simulated model showing a likely scenario for the oil. It's worth a look. And if the oil doesn't get here, give thanks by picking up a few extra water bottles next time you hit your favorite break.
the simulation shows that the oil is not likely to effect US beaches north of cape hatteras. But, as all of you should know by now, models aren't perfect and there is a lot of uncertainty involved with regards to the ocean current and weather. Either way, its a bad situation, but I'm sure everyone hopes it doesn't influence their local area.
No doubt. Also, that simulator assumed the oil would flow until June 20th. Doesn't exactly seem like it will be stopping by the 20th, so things can definitely get worse for us north of Hatteras still. Still, I took it as a ray of hope for NY/NJ surfers at least.
