thats a cool map because it gives the specs on where you click. I've been using this one myself - just of the US and a little different view - http://hint.fm/wind/ - had the same reaction though when I saw these things... awesome.
This is neat stuff. I showed this to my daughter, who graduated from VA Tech last May with a degree in Meteorology and is now working on her Masters at U of Alabama in Huntsville. She was very familiar with it and showed me the same type of wind map for the continental US.
the map i initially posted is upper level winds aloft ie the jetstream. is the hint map upper level too or surface winds? killer map!
