I have an Ocean kayak and it is out of control in anything over waist high. But I have seen this dude out in TOH Reef Road in a kayak that was very very narrow, very very long (aboot 14'), and had a keel in the back you controlled with foot pedals in the cockpit that had cables attached to the keel in the back. He would angle in to 15 to 20 foot faces on the biggest sets (Halloween swell he was out in 23 foot plus faces), and he flew. If he pearled, he would have disintegrated into splinters and shards of fiberglass, but he pulled it off over and over. Stunning. My wife has a sit on top wave ski with a fin box under the rear, with a big single fin. It shreds in hollow conditions up to head high plus, easily. All that volume makes it go super fast, but no one around here has the chones to take it out in big stuff. I'm glad you instilled the Fear Of God into that kayak kook, peajay4060. Maybe you saved some one not as tough and thick headed as your self from getting drilled.
i don't think he was scared of me as much as didn't want to be hassled. how do you know im thick headed? You can't believe everything my wife says you know.
