Had plans to surf this weekend in MD. Now, not so much with the forecaste. I am considering a drive from Md to OBX for sat. Anyone able to PM any advice on daeh sgan and surrounding areas?

Interested in details on best tide and where to go.

    Buddy system boys.

If you go, be prepared for a pounding. Made that trip a bunch of times and am always amazed at the difference in power from Maryland to the OBX. I can honestly say that the OBX at head high is heavier than anything I experienced in El Salvador. That said the piers are good but attract crowds. One pier we pulled up to the surf was firing. There was no one out so we jumped in and had a great session. Found out later that no one was out because they were chumming heavily for sharks while we were there.

Awesome to hear..... except for the sharks. This made me want to take the trip even more. I got surf fever bad and need some juice. Looks like there are only 1 or 2 piers.... anyone know about the tides? is peak low ok?

I am planning on heading down from VB. Nags head is looking good for winds right now but we are still a ways out so it will probably change. Honestly man, the sandbars down there are all over the place and can be just as good as any pier. I mean Piers might be a little bit more consistent but like Zippy said they will bring the crowd. Also, maybe stay away form the public beach access parking lots. I plan on parking on a side street and giving it a look. If it doesn't tickle your fancy repeat the process on another side street.

BWM, you mean you don't want the 6-10 foot with 35mph ENE winds in OCMD? LOL OBX looks like there is some potential for the weekend!

Looks to be the one two punch of good surf...but like Jawn says, it's all about the winds.

If this report holds, 5-7 feet at 9-10 seconds with SW winds on Sat, then Sunday howls again, then Monday back offshore...setting up to be really good for the banks this week...at some point. Could be classic outer banks!!!

Start coughing, sneezing, snorting etc. at work on Friday. That'll make the Monday sick day more believable. Just be sure to use lots of sunscreen or you're busted.

I'm here right now and it sucks. Wind all over it, no wrap around swell on south side and a kiting contest at the lighthouse that runs through Thursday. 2 thumbs down at the moment. Winds look better next week... A lot of energy in the ocean through next week!
