Read the entire thread! And this guy was dropping in on people on purpose! I understand accidents, but these were no accidents.....and save the melodramatic crap. I served in Iraq, and it's the last thing I want to hear about...stay on topic.

I ride my 6-4 shortboard on anything head-high or greater, but love to take the 10' SUP out on small clean days. I know the SUP crowd I surf with always tries to stay far away from the lineup. For one, we can catch a lot more waves on a SUP so there is no need to hang in the sweet spot or compete with other surfers. And secondly, the last thing any of us want to do is have to ditch our boards near other surfers. But if you have specific instances of SUPers not being respectful of other surfers, I'd like to know so I can be on the lookout for it. Thanks.

Dude, many of the local surfers here have lived and surfed in other places. I lived in Hawaii for 5 yrs and surfed double overhead North Shore regularly. I've hit the bottom at Sunset and been tore up. I've dealt with localism at Makaha. I lived in Cali, Fl, and on the East Coast and surfed all those places in all conditions. Also, many local surfers take surf trips and experience different conditions on a regular basis. I've also lived in land-locked areas so I'm thankful for the opportunity to surf whatever waves I can get.

I did the same thing when I moved back to TX from HI -- actually, I left my boards with friends in HI! But since then I've lived in FL and on the East coast and now that I'm back in TX again, I decided to just stop complaining and start surfing. It's what you make of it and it's better than NOT living near the ocean.

True that man. Try living landlocked for a couple years, that sucked. As for keeping your boards in storage and *****in about Texas surf, well keep your boards in storage. As for "50 degree water" and how bad a$$ you are, you actually sound like a tool. Please don't surf in Texas, you will help all of us out guy.

Plenty of fun (50 degree water) waves in the winter here in Texas. Rarely overhead... but if you complain about offshore chest to head-high waves in Texas, then quit surfing because you're a kook. Go troll somewhere else

Corpus is a bit more aggressive than the Upper Coast, but packs a juicier wave.

Had an episode of bad luck wiping out close to the take off zone on a crowded day and getting yelled at, but whatever...kinda wonky. Same guy wiped out 5 minutes later in the same spot.

lots of talented surfers but doesn't hold the crowd as well as other beaches in TX.

Plus on a crowded day everyone hides behind the little jetty at packery to escape the monster current. Surfside it's not.

If we don't try the right-of-way and behave...we all will loose it. Plus you don't want to end up in JAIL!

I agree. I didn't notice this thread originated this past summer. I stopped reading a few posts in and if I'm off target forgive me......

But this is what it has become?........Dudes threatening each other, over a computer, about riding BOAT WAKES......That's what the current state of surfing has become?? Yes, I do understand one's frustration about a spot or activity that was once uncrowded and peaceful becoming a zoo.....But people are fighting over boat wakes ?? Jesus dudes, just move to New Jersey and you can fight over waist high garbage.....HA !!! But natural waist high garbage !!! Anyone who is an angry, tough guy surfer. Come to Atlantic City.......we got waves and you can show your bad-arse side with the non surfing, local populace. Once you have AC mastered, you can head west to Camden and Philly where the big boys play and maybe catch some fabled West ground swell that lights up The Camden and Philly waterfronts... ALL Y'ALL CALM DOWN.

Who said anything about this thread being about boat wakes? You just jumped in to a forum with a post like that makes me want to stay away from your break. I surf almost everyday and i never seen a boat wake around here in Surfside. Just because you don't know anything about Texas surf doesn't mean we have none at all and rely on boats. The Gulf Of Mexico is not a lake full of boats. I thought you should know that since you don't know that Jetties have channels between them (TOPIC NAME IS CLEAR) and you think we only surf wake. Thats like me saying i have never been to Atlantic City so they only surf behind boats. Your post just shows us that you know nothing about us so piss off and let this thread go away!

Listen man, you are right, I didn't really pay attention to the posts and just saw two people bickering from the get-go. I thought that y'all were talking about riding those wakes from the tankers. My apologies to you and the Texas surf community. I know you guys get waves and would actually like to surf there one day. Again I am sorry. However I will not "piss off" unless you are Australian or British.
