pensacola was good this morning before the wind got on it.... head high... maybe bigger on the sets.... jellyfish were horrible though
Any update for Pinellas? Gulfster shows a pic of some guy riding a waist-high wave in S. Pinellas as of like 1:00pm (didn't think you'd mind the mention since they link to this site).
ya, it looks like some small SSW swell showing on the eastern gulf buoys. keep an eye on those buoys.
I pulled up to the Pensacola pier at 6:30 am and the inside was slamming and closed out at shoulder to head high. There was a huge set coming through on the outside with some fast lines that looked pretty good. The face of those waves looked to be at least eight feet possibly ten. A couple of guys that had just gotten out told me that the jelly fish were terrible so I headed to a popular spot to the west. Sets there were definately over head but the waits were pretty long. As the crowd grew so did the jelly fish population. It was a great day despite the winds picking up around 11. Luckily the jelly fish started clearing out then too. I surfed for at least 7 hours.
yeah, we probably saw each other and didn't even realise it.... there was about 50 people out at the cross.
I was the guy surfing the green 7 superfish and the also a 6' 2" Ricky Carrol. I kept switching boards because I couldn't decide which one was working better for me. When I had the RC out I kept catching mushy waves that would work better with my fish. I'd take the fish out which is really big, 6' 8", and end up in steep sections that I couldn't manuever well in. I had tons of fun on both boards, so I'm not complaining.
dolly was a real boardbreaker i broke 1and saw lots of carnage . fins broken, leashesbroke leash strings pulled thru boards plus the jellies .day of carnage.
