There's no surveillance video of the two putting the backpack down. There is also surveillance video of others with the same back pack.
Police get shot at by suspects and flee into residential nieghborhoods all the time.
FALN was caught and convicted without one shot fired.
Maybe they should have handled it differently in Bastan.

There is a difference between getting shot at by a gang banger and getting shot at by a bomber whose motive is to kill civilians.

    Reference edited post above.
Gang bangers, ex military phsycos, disgruntled boyfriends........some out to kill innocent people.
    It ain't just gang bangers.
There are laws for civilians and the government to follow.
Once it's ok for the government to break the law, but not civilians
You start crossing a line that may be irreversible.
This is a nations of laws not men.
Case in point: a terrorist involved in the FALN NYC bombing was just pardoned by Obama.

Exactly which law is being broken or encroached upon by law enforcement doing a house-to-house search, Archy? Please explain.

My granny had a very desirable figure, per the USAF, because they elected her as one their civilian pen-up ladies (not the kind you imagine for the men at war, but extremely formal photo, instead); so, ha!

Edit: As a matter of fact, I have many of her vintage clothes from back in her day, because we are close to identical, and 100% felines from birth. I shall remain that way until death, too; albeit, not by the pressure cookers of any nasty terrorists; so, ha, againe, you big baby.

5th Amendment. The house to house search was not consensual.

Looks like the same footage in parts of the movie. C'mon Archy, I agree with you on a lot of things, but this is not one of them. It's OK to admit when you're wrong and learn from others from time to time. It doesn't make you less intelligent, in fact, quite the opposite.

Da fu*k you talking about? If you're going to use a story to support your argument, know the details...And you tried to be condescending and say
You should probably should have researched the story a bit... I guess we should have handled it like we did in the 70's and NEVER MAKE AN ARREST. And hope that the Bastan Bombers accidentally blew themselves up 3 YEARS LATER

    No difference.
NYPD knew who was responsible too.
A Marshal Law scenario didn't ensue in their apprehension.

Is this hypothetical or are their reports of homeowners not consenting to a search upon request? If it was me, and I'm aware of what is going on with the search for these two scumbags, I'd let law enforcement in with no issue. Let's them clear an area and focus on bringing these ****wads in. ymmv though as you have an obvious distrust of all government organizations.

And did they go on a killing spree like the Boston Bombers did according to you?

Haha, it's not hypothetical. People were forced at gunpoint to put there hands on there heads and forced out of their homes. That's not consensual.
If you were home I think you would know if someone was in your house. And if you didn't and two killers were on the loose you'd probably look to see instead of locking yourself in the bedroom hoping they weren't.

Yes. They did... And they were NEVER CAUGHT even though you say they were caught and convicted without a shot fired.

    Dude, you're kidding me, right?

The 5th covers "self incrimination", *not* "searches and seizures".

    Wanna try again?

They knew because FALN called and left a note saying it was them... But they did not know who, specifically, was responsible. And they NEVER caught them.

I guess that's the gold standard of how a bombing should be handled...
Step 1- wait for the phone call saying "it was me"
    Step 2- Never catch them
Step 3 - Hope whoever makes the bombs blows himself up years later

    Sounds perfect.
