    Bottom Line

. . . it ALWAYS looks better down the beach. If you know what I mean. Be sure to take all your wetsuits, you'll need them year-round.

I think we need to clarify... SOUTHERN California is what I believe is being talked down upon. It could be shaken to rubble. I think people there have forgotten that they are built atop a FAULT LINE and at any unannounced time an earthquake could happen.

    We have Hurricanes.
At least we can see them coming. ...And, they bring waves :)

But zoo photography sounds pretty fun!

I'm sure you'll love the SD area. I personnally haven't been there yet, but numerous folks I work with have been there on business travel and also I know of some people whom lived in San Diego area for about 10 years, lived in MD for 2-3 years...really hated this area then moved back to SD just last year. Also, they didn't grow up in CA either so their return wasn't due to "homesickness" or anything. They just love it out there.

if you could eliminate all the people who post threads about their individual future plans, this forum would be sweet.

true enough,...you would want to be positive and wish him well, but my first reaction, (which I had to temper), was to ask who cares and why he felt the need to share?

He should Just go and start sending/posting some pictures of his times out west.

When I finally get my new job out west,>>> west of Cali, I will be sure not to think anyone will care if I announce the fact.

Hey, they (foxnews) just said San Diego is hiring for aerospace and defense. Sweet, sounds like the SD area is doing better then most of CA. Just got to work on your Spanish now....

I going to pretend I didn't read the last comments. Thanks for those with the encouraging words. PM me if u need a local connection out here guys. The nay-sayers are in abundance, but if you're thinking about making the trip, don't let them hinder your plans. I managed to find a job and place to live for a great price and absolutely love it so far. Got a sweet little swell trickling in this weekend so, ill get my first taste of socal surf soon. Looks like a good chance for waves later next week for you guys! Throw on your 4/3 and bundle up in your hood for me this winter, because i ain't coming home anytime soon. Thanks again for the shout outs and slash on hard for me midtown oc. Here's a shotty picture my girl took of my car as we concluded our 5 day trip just 30 miles from San Diego. Damn it felt good to see the sun set on the pacific.

yoo man I just moved out to southern california from south jersey and this place sucks. horrible. don't do it. sucks having to choose between a reef break, point break, or beach break every day. it was better when i didn't have to make decisions back in jersey. i still love jersey.

Good bye east coast--right there with you

I work my business and surf both coasts and I can tell you thats its pretty black and white; A typical swell in So Cal are the ones we get stoked about in Jerz.
As a newer surfer, I simply cant get better on the east when 90% of the year we have to deal with no or 1-3' waves, beach breaks, closeouts and 5 second rides when there is a decent day.
Starting thanksgiving I'm taking my intermediate ass to Venice Beach for 6 months to get away from the cold, roll with dumb chicks and take my surf game to the next level.
I'll send you reports from el porto and suset beach's
