i am from biloxi and i have always surfed dauphin island, AL and a little of pensacola. duaphin island was always half the size of pensacola and friendly. that was 6 years ago. i am on the outerbanks now and enjoying it. but i know i am going to be moving to the west florida area and i am wondering about the local scene around pensacola, destin and fort walton. any insight?!?!

    p'cola stoke

There is a great community of surfers in this area. We have several great shops and each has a good website with reports, forecasting links, local pictures and videos. Innerlight Surf Shop and Waterboys are in Pensacola, Fluid Surf Shop in Ft. Walton, and Mr. Surf's in Panama City. Those are just the bigger shops. Each shop has it's own crew and many surfers cross the cultural boundries. There are several professional photogs that shoot the better swell and are available for hire. Check out SideStreamSports.com and SurfSmooth.com. It is easy to find a vacant sandbar in P'cola but the better spots do get a little crowded sometimes. Nothing like more famous spots around the world though. People are very nice in the water as long as you tolerate their groms cutting you off every now and then. Hope to see you in the line up.
