As you know Ocean City is know for its shore break atleast uptown where i live.. but right now we still have our sandbar. with no plans to drege do you think we will have our sand bar all summer or go back to the ****tyness of shorebreak and the constant trops to 48 and 36 street?

No matter what the sand bars are like at other streets, people always flock to 48th or castles. Not much of a surprise considering there are pretty much always better peaks at those places, especially 48 (more like 46th-47th). People can't stand knowing that there's a better wave somewhere, and most are willing to suffer the crowds so they can get the better waves. Balls, I wish there were other sand bars consistently as good as mid town, I'd be there in a second. It's kinda cool though that if you want to find the best waves and/or see some good surfing and snap some photos or something you know exactly where to go. Comes at a price, though.

generally, as the surf gets calmer as we get towards summer, the north OC sandbars start to disappear. Hopefully this isn't the case, because it really stretches out the crowd, when everyone is not forced to go to south and mid town spots.

i love when there is like 50 people at a mid town break, and then you find a spot up north that is just as good or better and you are the only one out (or with friends). can't beat that.

the past 2 or 3 years seemed to have been especially bad for North OC.

summer beach profile is typically steep and shore breaky... a winter beach profile usually is much more gradual and usually breaks further out. unfortunately that means that this summer will prob be no different then last

There definitely has been some variation in the beach profile from year to year, but the past few years have been consistently lacking any significant sand bars for North OC. I"m not sure why it has been so poor the past few summers.

It could be worse. . . much worse.

You could live in Bethany Beach or Rehoboth. Talk about shore pound dumpiness. Maybe that's why I see so many DE tags trolling Ocean City.
