    My god... you poor people...

... know absolutely NOTHING about cheesesteaks! Lol... Genos? I'd rather have a McRib. Jim's? Hasn't been decent since the 90's when they opened a couple more locations (they were awesome once upon a time though). Pat's is very good across from Geno's, but the best are, in order... Steve's Prince of Steaks (northeast) Chink's (northeast) and Tony Luke's (original location is better @ Front and Oregon in south, I believe). Don't mean to offend anyone, but I take my cheesesteaks seriously. Greatest food ever invented. They deserve to be respected.

Casual, nice dining? Go to Parc (corny French name I know) on Rittenhouse Square. The Continental is decent too (2 locations) but get there before the "hey look at my shirt and new haircut crowd" gets there or you might consider suicide.

Try the Farmer's Cabinet. Awesome beer selection, great food and a cool place.

i agree with farmer's cabinet, parc (I know a cook there, he kills it), and the continental. Check out Farmicia in olde city.

Also, I agree with Mr. Swellinfo. Jim's steak is the best, no question! I would do disgusting things for a extra wiz wit out right now....

I will agree about the cheesesteak comment, those are all quite mediocre at best, genos is terrible as well as pats ... If you are into mexican food .. dos segundos in northern liberties is a great spot to eat! have had it many times and never disappointed! Also Mexican Post is great, not sure exactly where that is at. Good Luck!

south street always a great time for my girl and i. you have choices of many different resturants and bar, you can get anything, cheesesteaks, italian, irish, turkish, japanesse cuizine. not to mention all the crazy stores they have for window shopping make great conversation. I highly recomend going there and just walking around till you see something you like.

Hands down the best cheesesteak at Dalessandro's! was going to suggest it but sounds like the dude wasn't going to head out that far from the city.

Dalessandro's used to be good, until the they sold i think....4 years ago? My dad grew up in Roxborough, so I know my way around there, and they did have just absolute slammin' steaks. Now since its under new management, it has fallen to my 3rd favorite; 1st is Jim's followed by Tony Lukes. Dalessandro's are extra big and juicy. Sheeet, i'm craving one right now. The biggest problem down south (i'm currently in Wilmington,nc) is that the BREAD DOWN SOUTH IS HORRIBLE. And bread is what makes or breaks a quality sandwich.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fszqTFVEmT4 heres a video of dalessandros, my friends are in it - the guys that call out the new yorker trying to make one.
