Lot of great surf photos on this site. What is everyone shooting with currently? Post a sample. Canon 7D (first generation) with the EF 100-400L IS lens. Also use a Sony CyberShot HX300 super zoom point & shoot. Don't use this one much anymore but it has been a faithful camera that has gotten plenty of good shots. It definitely has some limitations but is a very capable camera that is compact and inexpensive.
i sold most of my stuff. so i cant say but if it was me i would have gone for a 70-200 f2.8L over the 100-400 f4.5-5-6. which sounds tarded cuse that lens cant get as far out but i love me some stops
I could see me adding that lens at some point. A friend uses that with a 2x extender and his shots are nice. That's a great lens for video too. There are rumors of a 7D Mark III coming out soon and a new EF150-500L IS. If those come out that will be my upgrade path.
Im not a photographer. My pops is, as a hobby. He shoots mostly at races and gets some crazy shots. For cars moving that fast, he can get a shot of multiple cars at once or right up in the cockpit of the driver as he's going through a turn or somthing. Don't know his gear but it's legit. He gives me his hand me downs or handy downs or whatever the expression is. Have taken shots from the beach while injured. Such a tease but better than staying away from the water all together. Definitely somthing id like to get more into for when i have the time post sesh.
I enjoy shooting very much, but so far am using entry level hobbyist equipment. Shooting from land: Nikon D5300 (entry level DSLR) 70-300 mm Nikkor entry level zoom lens. Shooting from water: Olympus TG-3 waterproof point and shoot. Its basic, cheap $300, and is the only waterproof Point and Shoot that i know of that takes pics in a Raw file format that allows a bit more editing, and shooting from the water you tend to get a lot of funky looking images that benefit from basic editing of brightness, contrast, saturation.
When it gets to feeling like work, it's time to take a break, which is what I've been doing the past few years. Shot with a broken camera the first few years. Swore to myself I would not purchase a new one, until I had mastered that one. Even clued the mirror back in, using it a few more years, before it finally died. Learned a long time ago not to get caught up in the latest thing to hit the market. Typically stick exclusively with Canon...new/old, doesn't matter (I like the old Rebels). Did deviate with my last purchase, a Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4 -5.6 along with a Promaster Spectrum 7 2X teleconverter, but I haven't really messed with all. Just thought it would be nice to have, when not in the mood to lug any of the back breakers.
Btw, posting your camera equipment on the net is the equivalent of doing the same with your jewelry or other valuables... Also a good idea to strip metadata...
