i'm both excited & bummed to watch mick & ceej go head to head in round 5...if the waves are pumping, which they should be, it could be an epic heat! that rd 4 heat w/ mick, jjf, & nat was awesome to watch, as was the one immediately after w/ slater, seabass, & poopoo (who, really, was pretty much a non-issue from the get-go)! as far as fantasy standings go, this is shaping up to be my best result yet.
I got mixed feelings too. Micks on my team but the draw is set up to where if Slater n Fanning meet now that means fanning wins tour championship, would of been cool if they met in quarters. Although Mick Fanning vs CJ Hobgood first heat of the day on what's forecasted to be 10 - 12 ft pipe is pretty awesome. Gonna be tough for Fanning if it's not back door. I changed my team before contest and have only lost 2 surfers. Michel Bourez v. Flores was a friendly fire round. Saturday should be a great finish to the year.
Hell yeah it was, had it on the living room tv all day. Next season should be sick. Wierd that everyone was questioning whether Fanning deservedly got the score but nothing about Yadin Nicol being underscored. His first 7 looked way higher which would've made Mick need a 10 or be in combo land. But whats a show without a little drama? Or someone gettin screwed!
i dunno...i feel like everyone's getting all hot & bothered over nothing. i don't personally believe that mick was overscored, nor yadin underscored (not significantly so, at least), but the fact of the matter is that mick was the most consistent surfer all year & deserved the title more than slater. mick never finished out of the top 10 in any event, usually 5th or higher. slater was all over the place, winning one event, then following it w/ a 13th or a 25th. slater definitely earned the event win, he was absolutely on fire the whole event, as was jjf. it was incredible to watch, & i'm kinda glad it worked out the way it did. i really wanted mick to win; at least 1 last title won by someone other than slater while slater is still on tour, avoiding the "oh, well it doesn't really count b/c slater wasn't competing" nonsense that people spouted when occy, sunny, & cj won while slater was retired the first time.
