Not a fan of barazilian storm and wanted mason to win, but that maybe the biggest rip off I have ever seen on the wsl. Hats off to Toledo remaining calm in interview. Don't think I would b that cool.
9.5 by slater....so sick how he gets so slotted with the rail grab on the bottom turn. Otton would have gotten 10 if he did not get clipped
Didn't read the whole thread but I just saw that Mick Fanning's other brother passed away last night.... horrible. Wishing him the win this year.
contest is on conditions pumping.saw seabass's 10,well deserved 10.saw jjf 9.93 are u kidding me what a fukin joke that wave was a 6 at best.i hate when they overscore jjf,hes like the best surfer in the world right now,he doesn't need handouts, they just want to keep him in the heats.pure bs and yea I guess my link still aint working for u guys,go on redbull .com and try searching not your average surf film, its Jamie o's movie, like before he was famous.now if u watched that and are now watching the pipemasters like I am lol, youll notice where everyone sits, jamie sits about 15yards deeper and that's why he snags the bombs. go adrianooooooooooooooooooooooo lol jk
micks brother died?damn if so that sucks.reminds me of tom carrols final in the 91 pipemasters, his sister died just before the final and went out there and ripped pipe to shreds
Pro surfing strategy seems easy at Pipe...those that get a lot of waves win heats (Mason, Kelly, Medina, etc). It's luck of the draw on what waves open up and you'll get a good score on one of them eventually. Those that sit back and wait for the best wave of the heat lose heats (JJF/JOB/Bruce Irons)
Watching the contest today makes me hate the WSL contest format even more. There are too many surfers and too many rounds. If Round 4 didn't exist, this thing would have been wrapped up yesterday in better conditions; two non-eliminations rounds is just excessive. Also, taking a whole day to determine the wildcards? What a watse. Just hand them out to JOB, Bruce, Ho, Jack Robinson, and move on. Those are who the people wanted anyways.
Definitely agree here... we should see the best dudes in the best waves. Invitational was sick but, those waves should have been used for the contest. Sucks to see the best guys grinding it out in smaller waves. When it's smaller, the final comes down more to luck/priority management than skill/guts. I'm pulling for Mick. I think Medina is surfing the best overall, but as usual, it don't look too good. AIDS continues on, I like his workmanship but I just can't take the claims/flags/priority BS. F*ckin Brazilians and their flag waving- someone's gotta make the Americans look good. Mick looks locked in. Lets hope he takes out baby huey here.
and Medina wins a "Pipemasters" heat on a wave that had no barrel, no turns, and one sloppy-landed air.
DAMMIT Mick lost to Medina. Arghhhhhh I don't agree that Medina deserved that last score where Medina popped the air. It's PIPE - - a barrel riding comp. Potter just summed it up: “I didn’t think it would come down to a two foot wave in the semi at Pipe” If Ho doesn't beat de Souza, I just can't watch an all brazzo finale.
