That noise you hear is the sound of the brazzos celebrating like it's their first children's circus & also the sound of thousands of people switching off the competition.

yea u can count me in,i just watched Adriano vs mason, adriano won with like a 6pt total lol...I don't get why they don't extend the waiting period and wait for a swell to finish it off.every fukin year,literally,2 days after the contest its the day of the year at pipe.now we have to wait for the volcom pipe pro.waves suck right now that's why I'm on here lol

Adriano is the only brazzo I like.i don't really like any of them, but hes not like medina or Toledo claiming every wave, even if its a 2.he got my respect during the quik pro francce a few years ago,it was a solid 12ft swell, lost his board and had to bodysurf 12ft closeouts to make it to the beach.most people would've drowned in that situation

This is the problem with competitive surfing in general... judging is difficult on unpredictable terrain, and there will be times when the winners are duking it out in far-from-ideal conditions.

I'm disappointed, but what could WSL do differently, besides holding the contest on better days? It was a sick air. Not like Mick put up a massive floater-to-flat to contend with it.

Maybe they need a better protocol for these sh*t finals. Imagine if the NBA final had to be played with a deflated ball.

Agreed. He is a class act and a beast in big surf, a deserving champion. (I'm still pissed the brazzos took over).

agree - the waves a sh!t for the pipe final...like brazil on the best day of the year. Really surprised adriano won the title...barely even heard his name all season. Kinda like the way Damian Hardman won his world titles...everyone said his style sucked and he couldn't ride big waves worth sh!t. idk, somethings wrong with pro surfing

It's really a shame they couldn't hold the last few heats in epic surf. It's North Shore for cryin out loud, not Trestles. The high score Medina got on the air at Pipe is a sin. A travesty. A joke.

I like adrianno, but i just don't like some of his tactics when he is under prority...imo, borderline interference at times, but he is a competitor, so hats off to him...still like him and like how he carrys himself...seems like a good dude.

and so what about medina throwing an air..seemed like a smart tactical move, and it paid off...conditions sucked and hell I would of been able to surf those conditions...tiny pipe. you gotta adapt. I got a hand it to medina, the dude has become well rounded surfer and seems a little better with the way he is carrying himself...not crazy about the brazilian storm, but those dudes rip and deserve it.

Iam having good vibes for Kelly next year...win a couple of the big wave events and finish in the middle pack on the small wave events and maybe squeeze a V on one of those small wave events..and who knows, the old man might pull off #12. Unfortunately, he is getting out surfed in small conditions...his air game is ok, but no where near some of his competitors.

Different note, Coop, any feedback on those new boards? The good, the bad, the ugly?

love the beaker...cant say anything bad about it, its a keeper...havent really taken out the flashpoint...took it out one time and it felt good but a tad stiff, still need to take it out a few more times in larger surf. Got that board for the larger stuff. Got everything made with s cloth. Not one pressure dent on the beaker after using it for a while.

I was only able to watch bits and pieces and I didn't get to see any of the women's heats. Any good?

I definitely agree about the tactics. I guess it is smart, it is a competition after all. But sitting on top of a guy the way he does. if he takes a wave use your priority to block. but you don't got to physically block the guy. this aint football.

And normally id agree with you about the air. But theres one BIG factor here. The judges weren't scoring anything but barrels. If conditions deteriorate guys should definitely adapt. But as a competitor watching the days heats and not seeing anything but barrels being scored, they take note. Then deciding the world title on an air in the final minutes of a heat...its a little different.

Micks opening wave was a 7.33 or something. Medinas air was a 6 something I believe? If not a high 5 (HA! highfive). Point being those scores are way to close together for a comp where only barrels were being rewarded. That was an impressive barrel considering conditions.

The trials were more interesting than the actual event. All the cool people were eliminated early and a non-english-speaker won it all. Rosy Hodge was looking fine as ever.

I watched some of the ladies comp. There were some hotties and some butcher chicks. All the girls got to surf and it looked like a nice time.
