Anyone else concerned about water pollution following the storm that is forecast to bring surf next weekend? The snow from this weekend is not going to melt until the rain comes, meaning that we are gonna get a double dose of water pollution..

I would guess since there is gonna be all that snow and rain water on top of it . I would guess that all the extra water wouldnt delude whatever road grime, oil , ect that is under the snow. I am sure it all is the same once it hits the ocean but, If your that concerned about getting sick it out til the snow is all done and it has stoped raining

No because we are not in CA. Never had pollution issues in my 30 years of surfing on the EC.

Really? I'm from CA....moved here to NJ about 7 years ago. The water here in NJ does get pretty haggard at times. Especially after a nice rain fall. I have seen raw sewage in the water plenty of times....Although CA can be worse I have seen it just as bad here at times. I have gotten more ear infections and sickness here than anywhere. Maybe it's just a Monmouth thing..IDK

Yeah after a good rain in the summer months in Wildwood the water gets a film over it that lasts a couple of days. Its pretty nasty and leaves a Sulfure smell in the water.

best thing to do is check with whatever town you are surfing in and see if there waste water and Rain water are processed together. In that case 20 min of heavy rain can make a water drainage system overflow. It simply too much water for the processing plant to keep up with the high demand of water entering the system

wow i was actually thinking this exact same thing this morning walking into my office. there was blue salt all over the place, nasty grey slush and grimey snow all over. nice to know that is going to end up in my sinuses.
