Thinking about a surf trip to Peniche portugal this april. Has anyone stayed in the Peniche surf house or the baleal surf house? how are they?
You going solo?? I did a 2 week trip to Portugal in June. There are obviously waves in Peniche, but as far as culture and beauty they lack. Our first week we rented a car and drove north, stopping to surf fairly frequently. But, the best part of the trip was the west coast south of Lisbon down to Sagres. Check out Indie Campers. We (wife and I) rented from them and it was so much better than hotels/hostels/airbnbs. Having the freedom to camp wherever you want any given night and not have to deal with check ins and shuttles and **** is amazing. If you are more than 2 people it is very economical. Hit up a grocery store and you can literally never pay for a meal out. Let me know if you want any more advice on that
Sorry... never been to Peniche. But an hour south is Ericeira, which is incredible. Tremendous variety of breaks, many of them with nobody or very few people out. Peniche may be the same, though... for all I know.
I third this. Spent a week in Ericeira last Summer. So many incredible spots so close together, pumps year round. Always head high on our stay with one macker day pushing DOH. Some crowds, but very friendly vibe in the line-ups. It's the only place I know that advertises their surf breaks, signs right on the road.
