While on the topic of ding repair, there's a book called "the ding repair chronicles". I think. I'll double check when I'm home. Its a small little pocket book that's super informative about diffrent kind of dings and possible fixes and all that jazz. Its handy. Already knew how to fix dings before getting it but its still a good reference from time to time. Might be able to help out with your pressure ding. Hopefully we got more to come, i got a good feeling about this fall. Bring on the dings and waves. Except ABC, it's only waist high around his parts (im kidding its a joke. Don't get all upset again)

i got about a fist size dent on the bottom of my 7'2" fisch after a surfing trip. dunno when i got it, but i'm assuming it hit some rocks at the time. i too was thinking about doing something, but it really didn't change the ride with it. #Dingalicious #MyDingnity #Dingleburried

As I remember, Wednesday pre dawn was something like 5.something(7?)ft at 13sec...

at 13 sec, that's overhead for sure, and it was...

ppl just try to be tough by underestimating waves, or they surfed the wrong spot that was not exposed well to a good south swell. there is a popular cam at a popular spot that doesn't have good exposure, looked 4-5 feet (read chest high) there...

and of coarse in Belmar it was going off. 5ft at 13 sec easily translates into 23ft faces

^^^Sounds about right. I'll add that Gert produced my favorite size wave... I surfed feeling like those waves were right in my wheelhouse. I love surfing... so I get just as much fun out of riding little summer peelers on my log as I do in bombing winter grinders. But I must say my performance peaks in clean, hollow waves a foot or two overhead. Enough power to do anything you want... but not so much that you have to think about not putting yourself into a bad situation.

Hey man, I don't mean to start a debate (I really am not on here enough to reply anyways) but as you know different spots on different swells will produce different wave heights due to many variables. Especially during a groundswell or long period swell. Personally I didn't hear much about bayhead from that particular swell, so I'm guessing it was not picking up the swell as well as other spots. It probably was only 4-5 ft, like you mentioned. Plus I saw a few locals from squan at my reg spot, so I know it wasn't too good there. That doesn't mean that all of NJ was only 4-5ft for that swell. The spot I surfed was overhead, no question. I would say it was 7-8 ft faces, maybe a few bigger sets; measuring it on an east coast swell size, not measuring the backs of the swell like Hawaiians- if that was the case, I would say that swell was 4 ft... then I guess we agree.

Case in point, this morning I surfed my reg spot and it was easy chest high on set, ppl might call it waist to chest. 3 to 5ft faces. 2ft Hawaiian or whatever... it was fun. Anyways- a buddy I have not seen in a while paddled out and mentioned that he checked bayhead this morning and it was pretty much breaking on the beach, flat. South swell. Better at my spot (aka Belmar). Not all swells are the same at every spot. And not everyone measures the waves the same way...

yah BH was garbage this morning. Barely breaking. Sand has been really weird there on smaller days. Gert was really fun that morning. Def some solid ones and some good energy. I measure wave size based upon where I am from (NJ) and also experience and knowledge gained along the way.

Again, my argument was that I had no reason to believe NC was 8-9ft and the pics THAT I SAW helped validate that. Its my opinion, guys are taking it personal. Oh well.

My standard for 8-10ft would be winter storm Stella (here in NJ) when it cleaned up in the afternoon. Def some random bigger ones too.

Frisco pumps on a big south , its a south facing beach, why do u think Brett was there.not saying 8 to 9 ft but probably had some extra zing.swells were 5 ft plus on buoys in carolina but the south facing beaches really got more juice just from way it was comin in with that swell direction.

Lol is this a joke? I can't tell. I have been there on a 6 foot swell and there is no place on the east coast that even comes close to the power or perfection of chopoe, even on a swell like Sandy. There are no world class waves on the east coast. Fun waves? Yes of course. World class? Definitely not. You are a goon just for thinking that any spot on the east coast should be regulated like a world class wave. Rant over, carry on.

If their not through the glass, like it’s beennsaid earlier, scufff out the ding and alittle area around it, and mix up some resin, fill in the ding but this is where I have good luck - get thin clear plastic vellum (like pieces of clear paper) used as notebook dividers, cut it in a square that covers the repair area plus a good inch around it (so the resin doesn’t squish out of the repair area) and tape it down on all four sides, and gently push the plastic down with a soft flat edge like a plastic putty knife so it pushes the resin out evenly and fills the ding. Let it kick over night and then pull the plastic off, finish fair/sand it, the do the steps to polish given here with wet sand paper and then compound. No lie it works awesome and if you take the time to sand it/finish it properly you will not be able to find the ding.

And I don’t take SHYT personally lol, just know this works awesome cause I knee, elbow and face dinged a few of my boards more than a few times
