There are spots that hold it. Seen it. Witnessed it. Surfed it. As the storm swings by, drive south (w/ 4x4) and look for small prop planes taking off and landing..... all i'm gonna say. Oh yeah, pack your big set of nuts, you're gonna need them.

Brett Barley is so sick. I watched them tow at the lighthouse that second day of this storm, they were killing it. Only dudes out, and for good reason. 99% of people on this board wouldn't be able to handle it.

I'm fairly certain I know the spot you're talking about (so do a lot of others), if the forecast holds, it will still be breaking about a mile out, even for this spot. Considering the 1st sandbar for this spot is about 1/4 a mile, I would imagine the real waves will be breaking on the 3rd sandbar. The 3rd bar will definitely hold the size, but the paddleout will test the limits anybody's physical condition.:D

ur so right. ever drive north from this spot? get's smaller the further north you drive toward the LH and wraps in more. but don't think it would be drivable at peak times. maybe drive south from the LH on the beach? caught some of my longest lefts in that cove. need some endurance though.

because i know my skill level and know i cant surf 15 footers way out past the beach in an area im not familiar with (rips, holes, sand bars) and rather go home and surf the break i know with friends

YES! The best day I've ever had was there. It was back in 04 I think. It hardly breaks but when it does, it doesn't get any better.

That reminds me of the time I went to Rodanthe during June and that freak nor-easter made the water like 65 degrees fahrenheit! I only had a top, but my friend didn't even have that :p!

    I was still sooo cold.

But this is tropical system, probably different. Plus, it's August.

Better keep this link handy then. Right now they got it pointed North and it gives a good view of all the action.
