That would be suite if ya did. Try to time it for when we have some waves to keep us busy all day and then crush some brews after. Spring is usually pretty fun around here.

Great to hear about the PRP treatment. I've got advanced cartilage damage due to some non-cancerous tumor growth that had to be removed from my ankle. Used to run 20 miles a week, play a few soccer matches, surf when possible, boot camp, etc. Switched to biking and light running, had to give up soccer, and thankfully the only thing that my surfing suffered was some fitness loss, but it took a good 9 months post-op to even be able to walk without pain again. At 33 and still a strong desire to be active its a small bit of hope to know that maybe things won't just be a slow spiral of pain and limited activity.

Like you said - technology and science are just going to get better, so it's all about hanging in there until they have a fix for the ailment. I am super worried about arthritis, in the last 5 years I've dislocated my (other) ankle, broke my fibula (repaired with a plate), shattered my wrist and scaphoid (another plate) and then had the tumors removed. I can give up soccer and running, but the thought of losing surfing scares me, its the one activity I've planned on being able to continue through my 60's.

very happy for you...and it gives up all hope.

My scope is next week. They drew blood and x-rayed me yesterday. Doc says both knees show signs of "de-mineralization"...kinda worried about that, but apparently it's from decreased walking over the past year. Got ice packs and Norco ready...now, if my ride would quit acting so flakey.

wow, that really puts things in perspective.

I understand the surfing thing. As dude-speak as the old saying seems, it IS "the source". Wrote a cheesy song about it:

Before a long day and it's toll
    Beyond the glassy surface, peaks
    Thoroughly sanded vehicle
    A finely tuned instrumental

    After a dry, demanding shift
    Immerse the flotsam
    and let jetsam drift

    Nature's greater views
    Panorama not many eyes include
    We pay all our dues
    Contrary to what people say
Life is good, everybody sing, we're...

    Goin' surfin'
    Keep on smilin'

    Nature's greater gifts
A banquet from not many can enjoy
    We've learned where it is
A sunny day is disguised gray
Happy to be alive, okay, we're...

    Goin' surfin'...

    Awesome lyrics WB!

I'm glad to hear you're on the mend, Yank! This tread reminds me to take nothing for granted, every day is a gift. Hey, while you are sitting around with a cold one, try reading "Breath" by Tim Winton. I'm only a third way through, but it is true prose, set in Western Oz, Tom and Huck meets Riding Giants is the vibe I'm getting. The author is like an aussie Tom Wolfe. You'll like.

thanks. Inspiration came when messing around on a crappy casio keyboard (it has drums and bass built-in). It's raw as hell, but the link is here (press "download", but then just choose "open w/ media player").

y'all are the best - - the stoke & positive vibes sent my way are much appreciated. And a song, to boot. Amazing! Result is good karma for y'all. for sure.

The fog has lifted. No knee pain, good mobility again is mind-clearing.

Will start a 30-day, 20 lb weight loss fitness program manana. Always scoffed at these things, but I'm going to try the Mike Dolce program. Goal: stay strong, yet roll into CR on March 30 @ 195. Currently 215.
    Eff you Domino's!

speaking of MMA, a lot of those fighters get effed up knees of some sort. I read one guy, Douglas Lima, has had 4 surgeries on his knee. Most of his meniscus is supposedly gone. He did PRP and is back, winning.

That's the guy - - read an article on him in the WSJ, of all places. How he has guys totally dialed in (nutritionally) for the weeks of their pre-fight training & weight loss. And then how he has them put back on something like 15-20 lbs in the 36 hrs between the weigh-in & the bout.

Props to Betty & you buoyz

had arthroscopy yesterday. Nice big medial meniscus tear and some nasty looking chondromalacia under my kneecap. I just hope I can pop up on my board this year.

    No matter what, two things:
    don't push it, take your time getting back there's no hurry except in your mind;
and do your rehab PT exercises like your life depends on that

Had both knees done, medial meniscus shaved in both. Idiot (me) went back onto roster full-on three weeks after the first 'scope; felt something pop in that knee sliding into 2b. Just should have waited & strengthened, then gone back into lineup a few months down the line.
