I just bought a new 6' 0" Santa Cruz Pumpkin Seed. I am 6 foot and 180-185 lbs. It seems like I am at the upper limit of the boards capacity (especially with wetsuit gear). The dude at the surf shop is about my size and he rides a 5' 10" Pumpkin Seed. I generally like smaller boards, but also am looking for something to glide through the flat spots and paddle well. Don't know if I got the right size. Anyone have any insight into this issue? I'd like to hear from folks that have some experience with this board. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hey frenchstix, I have the opposite worry....I just bought the 6'2" pumpkin seed last weekend and I weigh about 160 I'm hoping it's not to floaty to duck dive deep in larger surf. We'll see.... i'll be taking it out for the first time on Saturday, I have a feeling that I'll love it though. I was going back and forth in my mind between the 6' and the 6'2" but went with the slightly longer one since more often than not I'm out in smaller surf and thought it would be a little better wave catcher with some extra float. much appreciated. you can always use a little more paddling power. i like small boards though. we shall see!
Yeah, Let me know how you like it. I'm taking mine out tomorrow but it looks like it'll be pretty small (1'- 3') Later, Hookster
Hey FS, I got the board out this morning. I love it. It was pretty weak out there but I still had a blast on some waist highs. Can't wait to see how it does with a little more juice. Later, Hookster
Glad you like your board! Good luck getting into a bit more juice. I'll let you know how mine works. Take care.
