Hey all, someone is willing to sell me a 4/3 hooded suit for $75.0 (new with tags) that he brought with him from N cal to central FL. but the hood is not detachable. Id like to get the suit and remove the hood myself, Im not really concerned about damaging the hood, but I dont want to damage the suit, so my question is, is that possible or is it no matter what, if I remove the hood I'll ruin the seal ? thanks.
yes you will ruin the suit once the hood is removed to will leak water in around the neck . Suits with hoods seal around you face with a draw string . A suit without a hood seals around your neck with a velcor flap or draw string around one of the shoulders depending on the maker of the suit. If your concerned that the hood it bothersome while you wait for a set to come in or its not quite hood weather anymore just keep it down like you would on a hooded sweatshirt until you need it and then just slip it on to you head.
thank you for the answer Matt I forgot to mention I live/surf in SE FL for the most part, occasionally in Central FL. a hood would be a constant bother as it hardly ever gets cold enough for even a full. I was just thinking it would be a good deal to get a $400.o suit for $75.o. but if removing the hood is going to ruin the neck seal then I wont bother (now I know why he was willing to sell it that low...)
If you dont want a suit with a hood Check around on here maybe you can trade yours for one without a hood .
you probably don't need a 4/3 for S FL. A friend of mine lives in melbourne and wears a 3/2 at most...
Suit swap What's the suit brand name, and size? If you're interested, I have an O'Neill Heat 3/2 XL non-hooded. I cannot imagine ever needing a 4/3 suit in Florida, let alone an attached hood.
i hear Rip Curl is developing a wetsuit much like Spiderman's arch nemesis Venom's Costume. It just grows around your body and adjusts to 6/5/4 or 5/4/3 depending on the water temperature. The bad news is, it kills people.
