i've been surfing for quite a few years, i would call myself an intermediate level surfer. I started out oon a 8'0 mini longboard, graudated to about a 6'2 spectrum in the early 1990's m when i got alittle bigger a 6'10 town and country hybrid fish when those came out orig, moved onto a 6'8 flyer(way tooo big) and current have the 6'10 hybrid, a 6'8 CI MBB, and 6'4 CI Fishcuit. I am 6'2 and about 205lbs. I used to be quite bit heavier, around 230 240 even. I am thinking of getting a much shorter board, possibly a 6'4 CI Whip model. anyone got any review or comparisons, i don't wanna spend that much money without an idea of what im getting, i know people surfing smaller boards but they are much thinner than me, i wanna get as short as i can go, i don't mind having volume but a smaller board would enable me to turn so much harder and maybe pop and air or sometihng hahah
check out In The Eye surfboards. He makes a 'raised deck' with thinned out rails so you can ride a much shorter board.not as expensive as ci and better, too.the raised deck allows you to ride a board a few inches shorter, and he keeps the rails thin so you can slice through the wave.
I can't say enough about In The Eye boards. Got a custom one about 12 years ago and loved it from the beginning. Still have it and ride it from time to time with no problems.

I am the same size as you and here it what I ride: 6'2" pod stock dimensions - small junky surf 6'4" sashimi 20" x 2.5" - mushy surf from waist up 6'5" k small 19.5" x 2.5" - clean surf waist up to head + 6'8" M4 19.5 x 2.5" - clean overhead surf I am looking into possible the rookie at 6'4" x 19.5" x 2.5" for a little more rocker out the tail. Being a bit bigger it is tough to match floation and performance in a board. Another thing to consider is when and where you are surfing. I know I sometimes put on a couple of pounds in the winter plus the added wieght of the wetsuit. I want to make sure I am not sinking on turns. I read that Luke Egan, who is also pretty big about 210, rides dimensions around 6'4" x 19.25" x 2.375". He surfs better then me 100% of the time and also surfs in better conditions 99% of the time. Good Luck, I am interested in how it works out.
