Is it just me or have they failed to be relevant in a while...yeah they have Kelly, Dane, and some ASP contests but what do they offer? Young guns was cool pushing the up and comers but what happened to that? Overpriced clothes that johnny d-bag from North Dakota can buy at his local shopping mall? Sold out long ago with their roxy fashion show. What percentage of the wetsuit market do you think they have? cuz I don't even know anyone with a quik suit....

Yeah you can get a much better made product from a local company then quick. and at a better price. I just hope this doesnt screw up the contests. Im not a big pro surf fan, but i do like watching the pros rip on the webcasts. Im sure other companys are gonna be dropping guys now also.

I have a good number of quiksilver stretchy boardshorts that I bought marked-down when all those Quiksilver stores at the mall were closing down a couple of years ago.

Looks like that was a sign of the state of the company.

All these companies are struggling. Next I bet they dissolve or sell Mervin Manufacturing (Gnu/Lib Tech/etc) which they currently own. Burton just dissolved several companie they bought including Four Square and Forum.
At least sell these companies instead of dissolving them...

Relevant? They own some of the biggest companies there are including Roxy/DC/Gnu/Lib Tech etc. They are very relevant in the industry and sponsor some of the top competitions and give the biggest paychecks to their atheletes...quite relevant.

Yes relevant... who owns a lib tech board that you know? None. What self respecting skater skates or wears DC with their 'urban lifestyle' & Rob Dyrdek MTV Bull. Never heard of GNU. Roxy is a fashion brand that has arguably little or nothing to do with surfing any more. Maybe relevant isn't the right word...how about lost touch with their true roots long ago in the great capitalist pursuit or maybe their just not relevant to me and I'm a jerk.

+1 overpriced clothing, inferior wetsuits, definitely not "cool" anymore.

I always wondered what kind of return the companies even get by sponsoring these guys. I'm sure Slater and Reynolds are a return but they get nothing by flying the lesser names around. Seems to me like the best strategy is to wait for a guy like JJF to come along and then simply offer them more money than their old sponors.
