As someone who has a sense of pride about the quality of surf on the east coast, I'm glad that the quik pro event didn't complete its 3 year contract. This year would have been an egg in the face with the abysmal forecast through mid september.

You should check out the Surfline article on the OBX pro from this weekend. Forecast was supposed to be crap but the surf gods shone on the event and gave everyone there chest to head high surf with offshore winds! If the Quik came, so might the waves!

I'm glad it only came through that one year. They really lucked out that year with the swell, weather, and wind.
Quit while your ahead I say...at least it showed the rest of the world that we can get decent surf here. The East Coast is just not a world class "Dream Tour" destination. We have our days, but they are few and far between.

Those waves looked fun and all but on a scale of 1 to 10 for the WCT stops thats like a 2...

Not world class but not sure about a 2 either, I've seen contests in Cali held in junkier stuff than the OBX was run in. I think it depends on the contest. Many of todays newer pros loved the OBX waves as they were shredable and offered barrels and air sections where as at maxing Chopes, Pipe, Cloudbreak, Etc it's all about survival!

Well keep in mind that it takes 4 full days to run a WCT contest. Its possible to have a few sneaky fun days pop up, but I doubt 4 would randomly happen in 2 weeks. I'd rather not give any EC surf haters (of which there were numerous pre- Quik Pro NY 2011) any ammunition.

All I was saying to the OP was that it seems on the EC when we have a contest, waves show up! Stinkbug decided to bring up the WCT in relation to the Quik contest when my comment had nothing to do with WQS, WCT, ASP or the PTA for that matter. In fact I kind of lost track with all the different acronyms it's turning into golf with all their mini tours and different crossover events. I really do not care what letters are in front of the contest as long as I get to see sick surfers rip nice waves. Hell for that matter I don't even care if it's a contest just go ahead, go shred!
