I seriously hope katia gives them some juice, because the shots they got from day 1 on surfline made me very sad. Seeing those guys in those conditions was just not right. I can't believe they even ran the event that day. I know they have to get through so many days, so they had to start sometime, but man, that was ugly. should have waited for Katia to hit them off.

Yeah, it kinda of looks like Huntington Beach mush. Sad. Hopefully Thursday and Friday holds for them.

I just checked the quiksilver live cam and now it looks better with the tide. wilkinson looked good.

If they wait for the Katia juice to start, they'll have nothing for the end. I think I'd rather it start off a little poor and end in great waves rather then the opposite.

Looks pretty fun to me right now. Waves have picked up with the incoming tide. Looking forward to watching it crack on Friday.

decent little waves rolling in today, no worse than US Open on the smaller days. No one is eliminated this round so at least the surf today will not decide someones tour dreams being this is the cutoff event. SHould see decent sets roll thru tomorrow I hope.

From the other side of the aisle...part of me is almost hoping they get nothing but crap waves. It's hard enough to find good waves around here, and I would have no problem with the pro's getting skunked. Perhaps fewer of them will invade the lineups when we do get good swells. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind surfing with visitors. I'd just prefer if those visitors did not bring a circus and dozens of cam guys waiting to fill the mag's with 'totally awesome hurricane waves'.

you'll be able to see it later today after they upload the videos of all the heats. the new heat analyzer has footage from the entire heat, and they mark off whenever theres an interview, wave, wipeout, or scoring wave

    Waaaaa!

Pro surfers B!tch too much. I know that they are used to surfing world class waves, but if they won their heat it looks like Friday is going to be firing....I mean if i got payed hundreds of thousands a year from sponsors i wouldn't be b!tching....

Meanwhile all of us on the east coast are sitting & eagerly waiting for a decent wave. Katia's window of opportunity appears to be shrinking by the minute...hope Friday pans out

Did you hear them say that for the riders that don't advance to Round 3, they still pull in $11,000 for showing up. That is some serious cash.

I see the Huntington U.S. Open comments. Yeah, there have been ugly days some years. Maybe one or two. But the swell window, every time produces quality waves throughout the event.... One bad day is okay.... 3-4 is not,,,

Here is one of the smaller, not so great mornings from the U.S. Open Huntington Event this year, 2011....
I dont think Huntington is worthy of an ASP stop every year, but its tradition and they get waves... always... not always great, but always waves...

Not bad at all for small HB crap:

Zach no need to rub in the West coast is better, we all know. Just kidding. Looks like the winds are turning off shore and the sun is coming out, hope they run more heats and that tomorrow morning works out
