Raleigh is burning

So I'm guessing some of y'all saw in the national news that downtown Raleighwood had a massive fire last night. I had a front row seat.

I was at a bar watching my ex-drummer's new band, we went out back on the patio after their set and I looked up and it looked like red starlight. Like when they take an infrared pic of the sky. I was like "WTF is that?" then started seeing smoke. We all took off and headed towards the smoke (of course). From our vantage point it looked like it was next door or on the same block. We went out the front and realized it was many blocks away and it was HUGE. Like BIGLY huge. Naturally we headed straight for it.

Started hearing explosions. The fire spread to a parking deck and the cars were blowing up left and right. It was insane. Entire building burnt down, embers raining down everywhere like a volcano blew up. It's been so dry here that every patch of grass\etc that got an ember started burning. The windows were blowing out of buildings next to it. A photographer I know that was at the show taking pics went with us and a window fell and shattered right beside him on the sidewalk.

The church in the pic is like a block away, we went behind it trying to get a better view...and walked right up on a transformer on fire right by gas lines. We hauled a$$ outta there.

Josh: "We've got transformers burning."
Me: "Oh ****!".

I can't imagine what it was like for the people on 9\11. This was nothing compared to that, and it looked like armageddon.

Yowza indeed. And that's the second fire for me this week. Last Sat night my hot water heater in the crawlspace under the house caught fire about 12:30am. The HVAC for the downstairs is under the house and started sucking in the smoke. I think I need to grab my bort and just go float around somewhere for the next couple days, just to be safe.

Yep, SCREWBY is my idol and way better than me. You should see when he paddles out at the pier at the N. End. The hushed whispers, the pointing..."Is that really him?". Chicks have to be rescued as they faint at his mere presence and could drown. Even Bradpitted showed up one day, gave every wave to CBS, and then went and threw his own sh!t in the water out of respect.

Thanks brother! Although, if I did get torched it would be my own stupid fault. Sane, intelligent people run away from smoke and fire. Me and my crew? Like moth's to a flame.

Actually when we were hustling up to the fire I asked a guy what was burning. He said it was the General Assembly. I said "You mean the legislature?". "Yep." I heard two explosions right after that. First thought was someone had enough of our redneck cracka legislature and burned it to the ground.

 

Come to think about it, I did see a windowless vanne heading south with FL plates...Coincidence?

I know they said the only casualties were a firefighter caught some glass, but I'm gonna call the RPD and tell them to check for missing children as well.

 

Ha. I miss that show, esp them ragging on videos. Slamming Wheezer was one of my favs.
