Got this deck recently and have been meaning to get some trucks and some tape for it for the past month. Anyone got any good brand recommendations on trucks and wheels?
WELCOME makes the hottest shapes these days. Bigger and odder sizes, almost 80s but not. I have the one with the spider on it, with Indy trucks, risers, and soft 68 powelperalta bomber wheels---it cruises, its super stable, and you can do most tricks on it. Its hard to flip though. If you're into sliding then its REVOLUTIONARY! If you're looking for a standard popsicle, support your local shops decks or go with an independent company. If you order online, check out Sovereign Upstate skate shop's site for their inhouse Peter Tosh decks. Picked one up yesterday--Tosh's face sticking out in a forest of ganj. Also, Season's skate shop in Albany NY carries solid, grass roots decks. Check their site for the goods. Best wide and scooped popsicle decks are going to be from the distro that does Real and Antihero. Really stable and comfortable and forgiving. Best trucks on the planet are Independent. Wheels: go by hardness, not by brand. There is a chart somewhere online that explains the hardness rating. I have been big on soft wheels lately. I saw some dude missing a tooth flipping shredding the park two months ago with big ass softies and it sold me. I put softies on my preferred deck and chiseled out my tooth. Wheel size: under 54 is dedicated street, but its so easy to catch chunks of concrete under the trucks and go flying. Over 54 is considered park-ish. I disregard these guidelines. Despite repping the 90s in everything else in life, on the contrary I am really hot on skating bigger wheels right now. My new set up has hard (99a) 60s, and my Welcome deck has 68s. Its my style, or lack thereof maybe. I enjoy cruising more than anything. Big wheels and risers will get you into higher slides in theory... I think. Bearings: Bones. Never went swiss. Couldnt bring myself to spend the money. Man I want to try them some day. If you have the cash, try them out.
guy above me is on point with trucks and wheels. to be more specific on bearings, get bones reds or super reds. they're just like swiss if you clean them every so often. save yourself the torment by other kids at the park by NOT getting grizzly grip. get either jessup or mob and get a white paint marker to write something cheeky on the grip. that's what all the cool kids are doing
FUN--How do you recommend cleaning your bearings? That is, by the way, a serious legit question. Though on this forum it can easily be misinterpreted, I am actually interested in the feedback.

Ive been on the same indy trucks and pig wheels for the past 5 years.... I have been primarily skating park, and **** just wont die. I am not familiar with that gansett deck... is it a twin shape or old school directional? Hard to tell with that fisheye shot
