If you've followed this forum for long enough, and know the personalities involved, you would have recognized that this was a satire. Pump did a nice job of illustrating the folly of how Gov't regulation can go awry. Carry on.
Maybe they'll start regulating by ability via requiring people wear the new GPS watches, and big brother will monitor your stats and designate where you're allowed to surf. That will suck for me.
They really did, on two occasions that i know of, no bull ****. The first was that big storm last winter where it was unbelievably cold; I remember surfline had a feature on it. The other time was when hurricane Arthur hit in early summer. Both times the Virginian Pilot & local news stated that the beaches were closed until further notice due to dangerous conditions. The winter event I had no issues, so I didn't think anymore about it. For Arthur I paddled out at dawn (it was borderline victory at sea conditions - but there were a couple of make-able faces so whatever), and around 6:30 am lifeguards showed up and were constantly blowing whistles and shining some sort of led lights our way. I decided to go in after about an hour of them (as did everyone else) harassing us, and they didn't say anything. Went down to 1st street to check it and ran into a guy who said the cops were ticketing people earlier that morning.
Here's a link to that winter swell. http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/freezing-point----swell-story_105520/
I see the clouds that move across the sky I see the wind that moves the clouds away It moves the clouds over by the building I pick the building that I want to live in I smell the pine trees and the peaches in the woods I see the pine cones that fall by the highway That's the highway that goes to the building I pick the building that I want to live in It's over there, it's over there My building has every convenience It's gonna make life easy for me It's gonna be easy to get things done I will relax alone with my loved ones Loved ones, loved ones visit the building, Take the highway, park and come up and see me I'll be working, working but if you come visit I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important Don't you worry 'bout me I wouldn't worry about me Don't you worry 'bout me Don't you worry 'bout me I see the states, across this big nation I see the laws made in Washington, D.C. I think of the ones I consider my favorites I think of the people that are working for me Some civil servants are just like my loved ones They work so hard and they try to be strong I'm a lucky guy to live in my building They own the buildings to help them along It's over there, it's over there My building has every convenience It's gonna make life easy for me It's gonna be easy to get things done I will relax along with my loved ones Loved ones, loved ones visit the building Take the highway, park and come up and see me I'll be working, working but if you come visit I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important I wouldn't worry 'bout I wouldn't worry about me Don't you worry 'bout me Don't you worry 'bout me...
dont even get me started with the beach badge/lifeguard talk. You people are going to be reading about me in the paper this summer.
For the record, that's not what I have, but how could I not post. I'm sorry pumpy, didn't mean to steer the direction of your thread. Everything is right with Salt Life. But i have to be careful not to josh around about bc I have a couple buddies that rock the gear and I don't want them to make me walk the plank.
Whew, thanks. I was giving serious consideration to dropping my Hollister sponsorship and going with Salt Life. Even sent them my GoPro edits.
