So I got this 7'2" funshape that is a fcs tri-fin. was wondering if anyone has experience removing the 3rd fin and seeing if it would work as a twin. looking to loosen it up a bit.

i had a 6'0 fat shortbaord that was a rusty and i took ouut the middle fin, it made it pretty unstable but it was fun to ride, really loose and crazy turning take off the middle fin and if u dont like the way it rides put it back on, and if that doesnt work buy smaller fins itll make ur board looser

I've fooled around with fins quite a bit. Removing the middle fin makes the board very very loose, however you will have practiclly zero drive, and often just drift and slide around (which can be really fun), instead of putting any decent power into your turns.

IF you increase the size of the side fins too, than it makes it more like a twin, but not completly. I think that a true twin fin set-up is differently placed on the board than the side-fins of a tri-fin setup.

i remove them all the time especially in the small knee high waves just to mess around and stuff. it also helps you. i also just take out all the fins and thats fun. or you can leave the center and take out the 2 sides. jsut mess around and have fun doing it.
