Check your algorithms, it's often wrong for Huntington Beach, or North OC. This morning it was 2ft faces, and blown out white caps, not waist high and clean. Most of the time when the report says waist high, it's a nice 6ft faces. It is accurate for the east coast, but seems to be off over here.
these northwests seem to really be blocked more up there in oc than down here in sd. it's always magnified a notch, sometimes two, on any kind of NW groundswell or those short-medium period WNW windswells swellinfo predicts. bigger isn't always better imho tho, huntington pier seems to be doing it just fine in the 2-3' range too however the souths that slam into the beaches up there in the summer barely bend into some spots down here. not really looking forward to driving north to get more direct summer south swell energy, especially with the gas prices nearing $4/gallon and the unrest in the middle east
I live one mile from the HB pier, and the surf is not alright. It's been one foot and mushy all week, and the report has been off. So what I am saying is if I can't trust the report for my local area, how can I rely on it when I want to travel. I like the simple grafts of SI, but if I have to, I guess I can check out other reports.
yeah use all the surf and weather resources you can and then make your own prediction, that usually works best
