real nice board. are you shaping your own boards? im looking for something a little bigger, about a 5'11 or so. do you have anything like that in retro fish
we shape marko foam with old#7 epoxy and aerialite e cloth the exact dimensions on the retro twin are 5'4"x20x2 1/4" if ur interested in a custom we can do short boards for around $350 each depending on what fin setup u want and longboards for $450 and up were just starting up so if u wanted to see a board or ride one just let me know you can call me Jake at 443-866-4890 or Brendon at 443-417-5759 we can do full board graphics too. we also have a 6'1" egg shape diamond tail singlefin with hull channels and volume displacement that should be finished by tomorrow
Nice board. How can you make any money at your prices? 1. Marko Blank $65+ shipping=$85 total (if ordering multiple blanks per box) 2. Epoxy: $50 3. Fiberglass: $30 (8 yards or so) 5. Fin Boxes and Leash Plug: $20 6. Rice Paper for Logos $5 So you are nearly $200 for materials leaving about $100 for your time, tools, consumables, and overhead. Sounds like you are just starting out, but you are too inexpensive for Epoxy/EPS construction.
cool... i've been thinking about getting something custom from a new-ish shaper. I dont really think I'm good enough or know exactly what I want to ride to spend lots of cash on the "board of my dreams." I played Epiphone guitars for a long time before I shelled out a lot of money for a guitar (i hope that didn't come across as insulting... im talking more about budget than quality). So far I've been going the craigslist route and also have an epoxy pop-out. That fish looks really nice...but like the guy above I'd probably look to get something a little bigger. Maybe 5'8 with similar width and thickness.

jeeze....relax, man! your shapes look really good. i hope you stick w/ it. & my guess is that shorepoints does, too...hence that "lecture". so many shapers go out of business due to poor business decisions...we would like to see the art of hand=shaping continue, esp. w/ local guys making boards, rather than the surftech/boardworks, global surf industries type pop-outs taking over. buy a board from your local shaper or local shop...don't order boards from the internet & don't order boards made by people who don't surf!!
Muse, No worries. I didn't mean to be critical, I was just struck by how cheap you are selling what is considered a high-end hand-made construction. I totally understand that you are doing this for the love of it and are willing to lose money or break even just to get some boards under your belt. My only point was that you shouldn't sell yourself short. It was a compliment. Your boards look quite nice, especially for a rookie. Most custom shortboards with top quality materials (Marko, etc.) would go for $500+ from a B-level shaper. A-level guys (Rusty, Lost, etc.) would be $600+. You should be able to get $400 or so for a clear, sanded-finish EPS/Epoxy shorty with no complaints whatsoever. Use the extra dough to get more tools, more materials, more practice, whatever.
my bad i didnt mean to seem harsh just puttin alot of work in so im pretty passionate about it at this point
i have a 5'11" perf shorty and a 5'6" fish both with 5 fin setup so if anyone wants to demo one next time we get some swell just let me know
You ever make it up to NJ? Would rather not pay the $100 for shipping... Would be interested in a Zippi fish shape.
