I'm thinking of taking a day trip up to RI and was curious if anyone has favorite spots (surf and otherwise) in the western part of the state. I wasn't looking to go much further east than Point Judith for the sake of drive time. I'm going to bring the board but it isn't a surf trip per se, so any decent beach break should scratch the itch.

Anything come to mind, swellies? Any places I should see?

I'll be sure to pack a polo and boat shoes to blend in with the natives.

checking all of the western RI spots from watch hill to Pt Judith takes about 20 minutes.

Agreed- the spots are not that far apart- and fairly easy to find via Google earth. Some great surfing - idk about beach sitting - if that's what your getting at.... There is a state park somewhere, no waves there. But it's nice camping and walking around and stuff. I don't remember where, but I think it has its own exit off the highway

There is a beach break with a lot of beach/sand to sit on somewhere too- I don't remember, but it had some kinda sunken concrete structure that the waves broke off of.

Why not just change your plans and head to Belmar NJ? The waves are better and the beach is rated as like the top ten beaches on the east coast or something like that
