Heres the problem, Ill be traveling with my gf and a few friends to PR this coming up MARCH and I'm the only person serious about surfing. Fortunately I'm heading up the trip so i get to do all the planning. Initially i was dead set on going to Rincon but here lately a few friends who are going with me have suggested San Juan (Isle Verde). Will there be breaks this time of year in San Juan? I want to keep everyone happy but id also like to catch a few waves in the process, should i stick with Rincon? or should San Juan be a safe bet as well? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Do both, its a small island. Fly in San Juan, spend a couple nights in Old San Juan, spend some money, go out to eat, and during the days the girls can go shopping while you surf. End of the week go out into the country, maybe Rincon or maybe Isabela and enjoy the beach scene.
There's a ton of posts on this subject from past posts bud! Make the call when there. Go to where it's breaking the best at the time. Rincon only 2 hr drive, Isabella 20 min closer. Check out rinconsurfreport.com. Enjoy!
Do both. Stay in San Juan to party your ass off and spend a few days in Rincon to hang out and surf. Villa Confresi is an awesome place to stay right on the water in Rincon with a great party spot and only a short drive to all the good surf spots. Next time if you want a real surf trip don't bring friends that don't surf.
I am in a similar situation. My buds are doing the bachelor party and I'd like to score some waves and have partying as an option for us. I was thinking PR due to budgeting (I don't plan on coming out of a wedding and paying for it after it is complete) and it would be fun. I am considering a drive to Florida and fly out of there since we could have fun on the way down and the tickets are made cheap vs. Virginia. Trying not to be cookie cutter by going to Vegas.
$400-$450 out of BMI right now for last week of febuary or first week of march...beyond that prices will rise...springbreaker bros...
this... also be sure to go for a night in the rain forest... casa cuboy. March should be good for the west side. La ocho while in San Juan. Always bigger than it looks and tons of fun.
