I've always been rinsing my suits in the shower after a surf. I bought an oneill 3/2 last spring and the tape seams on the inside shoulders are already peeling off. Does rinsing it in the shower affect the quality of the suit? Let me know if I'm doing somrthing completely wrong.

As long as it cold water you're using it doesn't matter where you rinse the suit.

I've always rinsed mine in the shower. Then I hang it from the shower head to dry. Unless you take showers hotter than 100F, I don't think it will hurt them.

Fresh water is an absolute to lengthen the life of a your suit. BUT cool fresh water not hot. If it's too hot you could weaken the glued areas.

Might be the hangar, but it's not the shower.

I've always rinsed mine in the shower, at normal shower temp, and haven't noticed any issues.

I recently bought one of these hangers which I like a lot.

Yeah I rinse gear in the shower too, can the sand really mess with the plumbing? My gear seems to last and smell reasonable with the routine fresh water flushes.

Most of the time I let it soak in the tub then hang it to air dry.Sometimes even stick it in the washer.Haven't had any problems so far.

I got a nasty bacteria infection on arms from wetsuit. They always hang up in my shower in between session and never completely dry

I turn all of my stuff inside out to dry after I give everything a good rinse in the shower.. My suits and gear never smell and last a long time.

Hey, now I'm just axing a question so don't get all bent.

Do any of y'all sometimes feel that y'all are making surfing too scientific, complicated, and detailed. Addressing every possible situational nuance, looking at computer swell models, disecting this, disecting that, predicting that, predicting this, axing this, axing that...............

Wake up. Smoke dope. Go to the beach. Check the surf. Decide where to surf. Surf. Rinse wetsuit off. Smoke dope. Eat breakfast and be done with the rest.........does this exist anymore?

Surfing was never meant to be complicated.

I agree- make sure to use a thicker plastic hanger- like the ones they use in surf shops for the suits.

Cold water- Im not trying to be all scientific lol but I always felt like warm water wears out the material quicker

Third and most important- check out your warranty - send it back and get then to fix it- shouldn't be happening so soon- I'm unsure about oneil but most suits have warranties and honor them. Send it back

Wetsuits were less than $100 when I started. Now they're over $450. Worth the info and the input. But I'm from the school you can learn something new aboot every day.

I want DATA! I GOTTA have data!!

Everything's gotten increasingly complicated and involved. Decisions now a days require data/metrics, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, risk minimization, cost analysis, etc.
We've also become slaves to technology, and it's being applied to everything.

Science is just how my head works. I always liked it... through school and through college... and eventually became a high school science teacher - physics, chem, bio, earth science.

I think there's a best way to do everything. So I'm always looking for suggestions that make sense to me, and offering what I think is the best advice. And the irony is... well... I'm sure you've heard of Occam's Razor, right? The idea isn't to complicate things, but to distill problems and questions down to their simplest explanation. Ha!
