yea, i got to catch some of this. the waves were real slow rollers. sometimes i thought the ppl would be crushed with all the whitewash. most of the time, a buddy n i were yelling at the screen for them to hurry n speed down the line. pretty entertaining tho

Last night was insane. Italo got washed down to winki pop and had to get picked up by the ski. I think there was a broken board in every heat ran at one point or another.

 

Agreed, it was amazing surfing in massive conditions.

I just wish they didn't have Joanne Defay prattling on & on about complete craola whilst surfers were shredding in waves of consequence. lawd

Ok so am I the only one who thinks the WSL scoring system is utter crap.

Case in point: Conlogue vs Peterson

With 20 minutes remaining in their heat, Peterson needs a 13.00 to take the lead.

Which, isn’t ever going to happen. Ergo, this heat is over.

The announcers flog it with breathless yah yah, they throw more ads at viewers, the surfers keep surfing as if it’s really a competition...

It’s crap. Utter phony crap.

What other sport decides the final score with 20 minutes left on the clock.

NBA in the third quarter?
Baseball in the 7th inning?
Football early in the 2nd period?
NHL in the 2nd period?

The WSL needs to dump their idiotic bush league scoring system. Just go head to head. You score I score back & forth they go until the clock runs out.

How complicated is this??

Yea, I hear you on the non-fan sentiment. Two 6pt and one 8pt rides versus two 8pt and one 6pt rides. I think JJ actually won the heat...imo.

Im no conspiracy guy. I don't pay that close of attention. But IF i were to be a conspiracy guy i don't believe it was that they push brazzos. It's that they have a "story line". Sometimes it's brazzos. This year i think it's JJF. Coming back from in jury and getting another title.

Again, not saying i believe the conspiracy. I think JJF surfed amazing. He's style and skill in big open face waves like that is a god damn thing of beauty. He totally won fair and square. But if it is rigged that's the story line i think they go with this year.
