O Captain! My Captain! BY WALT WHITMAN O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You've fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done, From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead.
Logged onto the Internet, saw the sad news about Williams & had the exact same "oh noooo" feeling as when I boarded the F train in Carroll Gardens that long-ago morning & saw all the newspapers open & the NY Post headlines: 'John Belushi Dead'
who f@cking cares? seriously, get a grip you pop culture morons, he was a rich dude who CHOSE not to seek help. so many more real stories out there of real suffering, not a rich hollywood tool who couldnt handle the good life.
its been a rough summer,i know too many people that died this summer.my friends mother passed on Saturday,an old friend got hit by a car and killed in ny a few weeks ago, dont know robin Williams personally but damn, shyts fukd up.i don't see how rich people can be depressed tho, walk in my shoes.iv been poor and depressed my whole life,i just smoke weed lol and it makes the bs tolerable.and smoking pot after a good surf which is what im about to do when I log out is like being rich for 3 hours
Depression is an effed up thing. It doesn't matter if you're rich and famous. You can be rich and really suffer. Was not a fan of his, but it's sad that someone can seem to have everything and still not be happy.
I actually think its quite easy to become depressed if your rich and famous. Hollywood is very dangerous for people that don't really fit into the materialistic, egotistical, and wealthy lifestyle Hollywood is known for. You start to feel like your slipping away, like your losing your self.
Harsh, dude, harsh. Yah, I get it, this is a harsh place planet earth & especially this efftarded Forum. Having said that, I'm not a "pop culture moron" - - I just appreciated some of the dude's work for what it was: IMHO, great comedic stuff in a world that is getting more effed up, and faster, than is comprehensible. Comparing Williams struggle with addiction & depression & whatever he had going on in his life with "many more real stories of real suffering"......MIS, I like your posts, you're a sharp cutter, but I will respectfully disagree with your take on this man's death.
Let's face it being rich and famous doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. You also don't know whats going in someones life who appear have it all.Its ashame when anyone takes their life thou.Life is a blessing.Rip Robin, you were funny dude.
understood yank, bummer he died, but the amount of press you are all giving a man you never met (or maybe saw in public once) is kinda hollow and saccharine, go live an original life instead of watching people on tv, not just you yank, but all of us hanna, he couldnt 'handle' the difficulties of living an easy life, he offed himself, weak.
Eh, well, I did see him do his shtick live at Smith Center. Funny as anything, whoa, improv genius. Comics have been around since ancient times, entertainment is as human as human gets, and Williams was incredible at that. I'm not pushing press on the dude, I'm not bawling in my cups; his demons were his own & not part of my commentary. He was a rare talent, he was legit & it sucks that he's no longer around. Felt the same way about Andy Irons. And Belushi. And Chris Farley. I've known family & friends with depression & it's brutally real. Not trying to change your mind; merely my opinion. btw, I haven't owned a tv for years (seriously) who needs tv when there's this place
WAAAAAAAAAH! Poor poor rich guy. How fuggin selfish. I guess he didn't think about the innocent schlubb that found his swaying carcass. I feel sorrier for the family of the poor black boy the pigs shot in the face for standing in the street.
Innocent Schubbette, then. She was probably half his age, and 100 times better looking than what he'd get if he were us.
Terrible image in her head that she'll probably never forget. Sh*tty thing to do to someone, very selfish of him... I was sad to hear he's gone though, great talent, and from what I hear a good dude too. But I don't follow Hollywood so I may be wrong on that.
this is what my main point was, people are wronged by authority on the reg, and people are slurping up celeb deaths. we. are. f@cked.
we. are. f@cked. because you feel no relation to other human beings isis is hiring you and cheech are perfect
