Very very sad. I always hear about infections and issues after rain on west coast but never much on east coast. A year or so ago I got an infection in my elbow. swelled up nice and fat and was really sore out of no where. Only thing I could think of was the surf I had in ACNJ before the issue.

Does west coast have more of an issue than east coast with this?

yea my buddy told me that after living in southern cali for years he learned to not go out after a rainfall. Since they don't get nearly as much rain as the EC, when it does rain, it rains hard, and runs off all the built up bullsh!t that we awesome humans put on the earth/roads. not to mention the density of the human population in Southern Cali and the literal crappy sewage systems in place.
BUT he did say that on days like that you could shoot down to Baja to catch some clean water.

Damn. I was out there at the same time up in Honeyton. I was about to paddle out all weekend despite the warnings but there were onshoures in the teens enough to make it soupy and choppy. Opted not to surf since conditions were poor as well as water quality. Stuck to skating all weekend in the sun instead. Looks like a good call in the end. Terrible news though about this guy.

my condolences to Zach's family if this really was zach619.

the really big picture I'm looking at here. is that this isn't gonna stop. it's not getting better. today there was a warning and a "wait" till it might be safe to enter the water.
how long will it take until they just mandatorily close the beach for a while? just because we surf in the water we are confronted with this problem. but in reality it's EVERYONE'S problem. just because the bacteria has sank to the bottom or drifted down the coast doesn't mean it actually went anywhere!!!!! we can only p!ss and sh!t in our own bathtub for so long until we're just fvcked.

beer we might just be starting to realize we already are...but agreed, it's everyone's problem, and few give a sh!t.

Staph is gnarly. The MSRA strains are usually picked up in hospitals, FYI.

    Seriously sad....

I got a question for all yous guys- what do you think about surfing jersey around some of the dirty areas- like where pipes are directly connected to lakes ect- like wreck pond and other areas. I know I have had some skin infections from these areas... And of coarse sinus infections...

aw, i wouldn't worry bout that.
staph is a distant third to car robberies and physical assaults in friendly 'ol ACNJ.
