I have the ripcurl flashbomb 5/4mm just out of warranty, and it seems the E3 material is starting to breakdown and rip. Anyone experience this? Any retribution?
"Retribution"....? What are you talking about.... As in, has anyone's Ripcurl suit fallen apart & did they make a midnight rage revenge mission to the factory....?
Has anyone tried to send their suit in and get it repaired out of warranty for free? But yea sacking the Ripcurl factory at midnight and stealing all their e4 suits sounds like a great idea...if you can make it to Thailand.
How long have you had it for? I have the same suit, been wearing it for 3 years now and it's still good as new. Granted I do baby that suit though. Iv never had to send any gear back to rip curl, my gloves, booties, and suit are all ripcurl and 3 years old and all of its in good shape still. However I have heard good things about ripcurl with these sort of things. Let us know what they say and good luck
2 years old...not used too much overall excellent condition besides a few rips in the neoprene. It seems like the elasticity of the suit is less than it used to be and the material ripped....
Rip Curl's repair people have done a good job on my suits (even out of warranty) - it just costs a little, like 10-20 bucks or so depending on the repair - one of mine was about $40.00, but it was a lot of repair work. They even volunteered some improvements to my wetsuit. In the meantime, just take a needle and thread (I use polyester, nylon thread is fine too). Sew it up. Perhaps a find a scrap or two of neoprene if you need to cover a larger hole. Stick patch on with a thin line of Aquaseal/Neo-Rez(is neorez the rubbery stuff, I have both) and sew it. Close the Aquaseal and store it properly or it hardens - then you have to dig through the hard part to find the soft stuff underneath. Aquaseal (or is it Neorez) is rubbery which is normally what you want. I mean the stuff that dries to a sort of yellowish-green rubbery consistency. If you don't want to sew, find a woman and give her a sewing test. PS I don't know what the E3 material is like. Could something you're doing, be damaging it? Perhaps even the breaks that you surf at - there could be junk in the ocean that's eating it away. Or soap or something? I ruined an old Xcel by shampooing it all the time. Ask others who have the same suit if THEIR E3 has the same problem. If so, then the material wears out. If you surf a whole lot, it's hard to get a suit to last a long time but if you treat it like BassMon (and me), it can last a decade or more. I have an 11 year-old wetsuit by Rip Curl that's pristine-mint still. Maybe the ocean is taking it's toll - my eyes seem to burn more each year. Of course, I'm sure the stinging in my eyes and the damage to the wetsuit could be done by salt-water. A spray of salt-water can't be that great for either our eyes or our wetsuit.
years ago .... many years ago... I sent my ripcurl 5 mil in for repairs and they are totally cool with it! They didn't charge me anything- except shipping. They really stand behind their product. After that- I sent in a few suits. Just include a letter saying that you love the suit and take good care of it... im not sure about the time line tho could be a month. I even sent back a suit that I bought at the ripcurl outlet in cali - like 4 years after I bought it and they where still cool with it! THATS WHAY MAKES A GOOD COMPANY- someone who stands behind their product. ripcurl is the best! FYI- other companies do the same- its worth paying extra sometimes- the north face, ll bean ect... #RipcurlSuitsLastLongestInBelmarNJ
My 5/4 E3 flashbomb has ripped 5 times. Probably won't buy another. Just after two years it was a POS.
Mine has a little hole under the knee area but it wasn't all the way through. My gloves are ripped at the entrance part though like the neoprene has separated
