Road Trip from El Salvador--> Nicaragua

    Hey all,
Going to be living in el salvador for the next 2 months (october/november) and am very interested in doing a road trip down to Nicaragua. Have never traveled or surfed in Nicaragua, but know El Salvador pretty well and speak fluent spanish. I'll be traveling with some of my Salvadoran friends so I feel pretty comfortable driving through C.A.

Wondering if anyone has done this drive before and has any tips. Pretty much looking for any tips or advice on where to visit in order to score the best waves possible at the lowest price. Happy to stay in modest housing as long as quality surf is near by. Was thinking northern/central coast (el transito or puerto sandino) is most likely destination, simply because it's closer, but i'm not really sure how much further popoyo area is and if it's worth the extra drive.

    Thanks

ok huevonito - i'll tell 'ya what i know. don't know the north coast; have heard rumors of a good left
in puerto sandino but don't have details, i can tell 'ya that popoyo is a WONDERFUL wave; beware the
outside left as it REALLY IS AN EXPERTS ONLY WAVE. In gigante you could stay w/dale dagger and
surf ponga drops or manzanillo. if you stay in sjdsur theres playa madera or hop on a boat out of
    that picturesque harbor.

also at popoyo expect - puta un montan de - compania brasileros y argentenios....

Anyone have cheap housing suggestions in puerto sandino or popoyo?
Thinking i'll probably spend a couple nights in the north then make my way to popoyo area if i can find cheap housing there
