me and a friend are driving from ocean city new jersey over to california for a surf trip, i was wondering if anyone on here could help us out by naming some camp sites or motels or anything like that near any beaches that are very cheap? it would be a huge help to us because we arent made of money, he have no destination so any places would be awsome, thanks for the info we really appreciate it

easiest to tow a camper or have an RV altogether... as far as campsites to pitch a tent? well, i don't know anyone who has done that recently but i'm sure it's possible. it doesn't drop below 50F along the coast in southern cal and not below 40F in norcal. try to find a camper's guide to california instead of just winging it. sorry i can't be of more help

You might as well fly. Its gonna cost you over $1000 for gas alone, not to mention food and lodging along the way. Plus the drive sucks, I've done it from NY to Santa Barbara twice.

Your trip is going to be awesome! I actually just got back from San Clemente and we scored some killer swell over spring break. The gas only cost us $600 and we drove over 7000 miles. I would recommend camping at San Clemente state beach. its 25 a night and u might need to reserve a few days ahead of time but it over looks a decent beach break and is about a ten or 15 min walk from trestles. if yu need anymore tips i can help you out alot just drop me a private message or w/e. but it was the best trip of my life.
ps the drive only sucks if you can't hang. we had a blast
